โญ Great Start to the One Piece Series
I bought One Piece, Vol. 1: Romance Dawn for my son since heโs a big One Piece fan, and he ended up finishing it in a single day. Overall, a great first volume for anyone getting into the One Piece series.

My First Manga
This is my first real manga and while my husband and I are fans of the show and I was super excited to get this, I wasn't sure how I would like it. Aside from the newspaper funnies, Garfield books, and Poke'mon comics, I have never really delved into stuff like this. It was a little challenging reminding myself to read in the opposite direction, but I finally got the hang of it. Plot: It's pretty much like the anime so far but it showed more back story so it was still new and fresh. I liked the little fun sections like character history and how-to-draw pages. Sometimes it was a little hard to tell what was going on because there was so much happening in a panel, but overall I got the gist of it and the story itself is interesting. Zolo (Zorro) especially has an interesting back story. Setting: The overall setting of One Piece, when piracy is in it's golden age, is always fun. Characters: So far the characters are just like in the anime, though Zorro is called "Zolo" here. Not sure if I will ever be able to get over that change. Anyway, Luffy is just as funny in this, Zolo (Zorro) is his typical smartass self, and Nami is mischievous. I did like Koby a little better here. I find him super annoying in the show. Relationships: I liked seeing more of Luffy and Shank's history in this. It was also neat to see how Luffy won over Koby and Zolo (Zorro). Writing/Voice: Overall enjoyable lines, a few made me a chuckle. Ending: Made me immediately order the next book. Because while I know what happens in the show, it's a little different and I want to see it in manga form. Overall, this was a great first manga to try. Now I'm hooked! There's a ton of books in this series so I will be busy for a while. It was a different experience but since I love reading and art, I definitely enjoyed it. Being a fan of the anime helped. I ordered the next two books so hopefully I will get to them soon, too!

One Piece, Vol 1
It has been a hot minute since I have read a manga or any graphic novel. I will also admit I have never seen the One Piece anime, but I have watched a few episodes of the live-action series. With that being said, this is a fun introduction to the world of the Straw Hat Pirates as we read the first 8 chapters and start the introduction of Luffyโs crew. The story is easy to follow, the characters are well done and fun and I can see the appeal that this story has had over its many, many fans. I will also say that I like reading this on the Kindle Fire, as it is convenient for me to take multiple books with me on one device. I am glad that I picked this up.

there was a man who achieved everything in this world...
I had a well-preserved One Piece collection, but last year I had to sell it to raise money to buy a new notebook, hard times, it wasn't an easy decision... Some time later I got better financially and started a collection again, kanzenban (3 in 1), the paper is better and has a higher cost benefit in the end. And today I decided to buy the American volume 01 to make my collection even cooler, I liked the format, the paper better than the one used here in Brazil, I just didn't like the translation "Zolo" .... my God hahaha other than that, yeah a great manga.

A crazy and fun adventure based manga with strong characterization.
A crazy and fun adventure based manga with strong characterization. This is currently my favourite manga series for many good reasons ! First of all it's visual style is very strange and unique .... it's very borderline cartoonish , which some people may find a turn off. But if looks turn you off that easily, well I guess you're a shallow one then. This drawing style simply oozes fun and freedom , which is what this title is all about ! The characters are very expressive and you can sense the unrestrained joy in the characters' chesire cat grins. Unlike a lot of generic and restrictive styles of anime/manga , this title is full of outlandishly varied character designs .....some are very caricaturist , but you'd be surprised even alot of the weirdo looking characters play important parts ! Secondly this Manga series has really great characterization , probably the best I've seen from a long running title. All the main characters have a strong background story which explains the way they act and is revealed at the right time. This gives great development and depth to the characters and make them rather more likable than your typical manga/anime stereotypes. Another good thing about this manga is that it doesn't take it self too seriously ! It's full of weird and wacky humor which is a refreshing change, from a lot of the over-melodramatic anime/mangas that take themselves too seriously. There are really funny times throughout this series, a lot of them come from the immature bickering from the main characters, as none of them really get along .... hehe .... which is comedy chemistry gold. Also a lot of great physical comedy and laughable expressions can be found in this title also. Especially considering the strange body morphing powers of some of the characters. The fight scenes are very imaginative also. A lot of your typical anime/manga battles tend to consist of who can hit/cut the hardest for the longest amount of time or who has the stronger energy blasts ..... but these battles are very imaginative , as the characters have more varied powers with proper weaknesses. The main hero is a rubber man for example and the artist can do all sorts of crazy things with this character visually. Anyway this is only the first book of many great stories and will set up the background of two of the central characters. Upon reading the first book , you'll get the idea of the free spirit of this series and you'll most probably like it.
