A Long Walk to Water

This story about how two lives intertwined is heartwarming. One perseveres patiently through great difficulties but never loses sight of what is important. The other, a child benefits from and appreciates the first character's perseverance and endurance. This is a beautiful story that teaches the value of persevering through trials, recovering from trials, and moving on to help others. I highly recommend this book for middle school to adult readers. It is very well written, easy to read, and absorbing. I enjoyed reading this book and I'm really glad for what I learned from it.

Very sad, but very true story of survival of a boy in Africa. Very well written.

I almost felt like this was happening at the moment that I was reading it! This story made me feel that once I finished a chapter I just wanted to keep reading more and more chapters!!! This story was an amazing book to read that I would definitely tell others to read also! At the end it almost feels like and on-going story and that there should be another book to it, which I wish there was!

This was a quick, easy read. Based on a true story made it more meaningful.What a lovely, well written story.

Bought this to read with my kids at night. We read between 2-4 chapters per night. The book tells two different stories at the same time so each chapter tells a part on Nya and her getting water and the other part of the chapter talks about Salva a young boy who has to escape war torn Sudan. So far it has been an easy and quick read. We are about two night away from the end. It room longer for my 7 and 9 year old to get into it then my 13 year old. We are at chapter 12 and they all asked me to keep reading to find out what happens next. I think my kids have a hard time grasping the concept that there is more going on in the world then what is right outside their door but I think that this opened their eyes to a word outside their own as this is based on a true story. Quick easy and attention capturing book. Great for tweens and teena alike. Enjoyed reading something outside of our normal fiction genera.

I just got done reading this to my granddaughter, we cried when Salva got to see his father, ok, I cried and she comforted me. What an amazing, incredible story and journey! Everyone needs to read this book. My granddaughter just said, "THAT WAS THE BEST BOOK EVER!" Thank you Salva, for writing and sharing your journey!
