Ortho Snake B Gon Snake Repellent Granules, 2-Pound (Not Sold in AK)

We live in the southeast on wooded property near the Coastal marsh. We didn’t want to use anything toxic that would be harmful if it leached into the marsh/ocean . We have several dogs and have seen poisonous and non-poisonous snakes in our yard. I’ve been using this snake repellent for several years now and haven’t seen a snake since then. I put it around the house in the early spring and then again late summer. It smells wonderful! Highly recommend!

My family and I moved into a rural area several years ago and our neighbors let us know that there is chance of getting a snake in your yard every now and then. Since we are city folk at heart we immediately went looking for snake repellent and choose this one since it looked the most natural and seemed safe for our dog. We used it every year and never got a snake. Then this year we just grabbed a random snake repellent at Home Depot and put it down and as summer months approached, we saw a massive pink snake crawl into one of the flowerbeds! I don't think it was an overreaction to buy 3 bottles of this stuff after the snake took off. And of yes, I overnighted all three bottles! For years I wasn't sure if this stuff even worked; it kind of felt like some voodoo ritual of putting salt down to keep out "evil spirits". But after a 5 foot pink snake (they can be pink?!) tried to use our backyard as a resting spot, I was sold that this stuff might actually be working.

so the smell is a while lot better than other snake repellents that use other chemicals and napthalene (like moth balls) - its like very strong essential oils. im not sure about it repelling snakes, because i did see this 3 foot red king snake going over where i normally pour and then along the pool deck on to out to the trees (they are non venomous so i left it alone), thus the star ding. it could also be that i was late in reapplications (once a week, the bottle lasts me about a month). but i havent seen any rodents, (including squirrels), possums, raccoons, ( i have a preserve behind the house here in florida and my deer cam catches these small animals as well at night) in the areas where i apply, so i guess if the snake hasnt anything to eat in that applied area they go find someplace else.. so works in a roundabout way. My neighbor by the way has found a large black water snake and a water moccasin/cottonmouth in his patio a couple weeks ago, he doesnt apply. The two pack is a great value. I'll keep on buying this.

Ok ya’ll, I was skeptical at first but this stuff is amazing. We have an old retaining wall that attracted garter snakes like crazy. Playing in the yard or mowing was often frightening because we are not a fan of snakes. I know they can’t hurt me.. blah blah blah! BUT I don’t like them. Not.At.All! I was ready to invest in this every month (since it says to reapply every 30 days) forever if it worked. Let me tell you that I applied this over 60 days ago and I have not seen one snake. Not one!!!! When I say we had a lot of snakes.. I mean a lot. Like we couldn’t mow the lawn without seeing at-least 3-5. Not we have none! I haven’t even had to reapply it. Great product!! Thank you soooo much! Downside: only downside is we have more crickets but I’ll take crickets outside anyway over snakes. Bring it on!

I'm terrified of snakes (female) so I decided to purchase this to sprinkle around the house, flowerbeds, and the walkways after seeing a few snake skins laying around. It seemed to work fine until we had a few good days of rain. The last 3 days in a row, I've seen live snakes for the first time out around my patio. I generously sprinkled the snake-b-gon out front, but he came back the very next day, taunting me with that little pink tongue. While he was hanging out, blocking me from exiting my house, I sprinkled some directly onto him... he wasn't very happy with me, and after giving me a dirty look, he slithered away under some leaves. I'm 99% sure he's living under my patio, and even though I've generously applied the product there, he keeps tormenting me on a daily basis. Overall, I'd have to say the product works... sort of, because the snake surely didn't like it when it was sprinkled on/by him. I don't think it's doing enough to keep him away, because every morning I'm greeted by this anaconda preventing me from leaving the house.

Strong scent which is probably why it is effective. - seems to work as both the black and eastern garden slitherers have not returned to the rock and flower bed areas near the front door.. most other brands are not rain resistant and require frequent reapplications. The Ortho brand states a 3 month effectiveness even with rain. We also have copperheads in the NC mountains and thankfully we have not seen one of those near the house. Our property has a 20’ high rock retaining wall on one side of the driveway whose crevices are a natural attraction for snakes as well as forested areas with leaf mulch. More costly than other non rain resistant brands but not available at Lowes or Home Depot or the big box stores. Was the most highly recommended so worth buying on Amazon.

Two years ago I had some non venimous snakes in the bushes around my house. Used Snake B Gon every month during summer and didn't see any more snakes when doing lawn work. Moved to new house surrounded by a TVA forrest area last month and found a 24 inch grey rat snake in my garage. Ordered Snake B Gon and applied it around the house. The next morning found a large Copperhead about 20-30 feet away from the area around my house where I had treated, laying in the grass. This is unusual for a Copperhead to be laying out exposed like that. Got a shovel to kill him and missed. He quickly retreated towards the house through the Snake B Gon treated area and disappeared down a hole next to the house foundation. Opened a new can of Snake B Gon, threw it down the hole and waited. A few minutes later he comes back out. Snake B Gon for sure now. I think that the original application of Snake B Gon the previous evening had kept him out of his hole which is how I found him. He didn't seem to like me throwing it down the hole at him. I will continue using this once a month around the house.

I had hoped that the product would last me at least 4 weeks, but unfortunately, It only last 2 1/2 weeks. I live in a duplex, 1,018 sqft home. So a pretty small place but still, this product is very small and not enough to last me a month. I do like the smell, it was pleasant and I didn't have to worry about the pieces by the window sill being touched by my kiddos. They stayed away from it because they knew it was there to prevent snakes from coming to our windows.
