I couldn't put it down!
A serial rapist is kidnapping teenage virgins. He hunts them by following their status updates and check-ins on social media. Once he’s captured them, they’re locked away in his sound-proof basement until they’re groomed and ready. Nobody escapes alive. Until Ella. Ella risks it all to escape, setting herself and the other girls free. But only Sarah—the girl whose been captive the longest—gets out with her. Ella and Sarah are the key to the FBI's investigation, but Sarah’s hiding something and it isn’t long before Ella discovers her nightmare is far from over. APPETITE FOR INNOCENCE is a gripping and suspenseful thriller that follows the harrowing experiences of the young girls who fall victim to a depraved sexual predator. The story takes place before and after the girls' thrilling escape from their captor, which kept me captivated from start to finish. Lucinda Berry skillfully develops the characters while preserving the suspense surrounding Sarah's actions and Ella's strength and trauma-induced distress. It was an oddly realistic experience to be inside that evil house with those characters. Because of Berry's meticulous portrayal, I was able to empathize with the victims' experiences. Although some sections were difficult to read, they were written with respect. The conclusion leaves room for interpretation, suggesting that the nightmare may not be over yet. I value that lingering fear, and I believe everything came together perfectly! I highly recommend APPETITE FOR INNOCENCE if you're looking for a disturbing and fast-paced read with dual perspectives.

A punch to the guts that's hard to put down.
Well written and probably very true to reality when it comes to these kinds of issues. Its not only easy to get into the story right from the start, but Dr. Berry grabs you from the beginning and holds on to you for the duration. The subject matter of kidnapping, child sexual assault and murder is open, aggressive, sickening and rough. Sometimes the book is hard to read because of how rough it gets. You can tell that the author has a lot of experience and knowledge in this field. TBH, I wanted the happier, storybook ending that seemed to be brewing before things went ballistic at the end. I didn't like the abrupt change to one of the main characters in the finale. It seemed to mismatch her progression up to that point. The biggest problem I had with this book is that all of the men in the book were either cold, heartless or pure evil. It would have been nice to be shown that good men do exist out there and not just the differing varieties of monsters depicted. I think a good male character would have helped the reader to heal after enduring the hell along side the protagonists. Overall it's worth reading. I will probably look for more from this author.

Almost a 5 star read at 4.75
This was almost a 5 star for me and considering I have been having some low rating reads recently this is pretty good. I enjoyed this one a good bit and was worried because so many people said to watch out for this one because of the trigger and content warnings. I am not one to worry about trigger warnings but when so many people talk about them it makes you nervous. I felt this was a good psychological thriller and another great book by Lucinda Berry. I am one of her fans so I may be biased but I really enjoy her writing and even though I read several books at once hers always suck me in so that I finish hers before others I may have started previously. This one was a two day read only because I started it late at night and had to go to bed…lol. Would definitely recommend.

so I really enjoyed this…
I downloaded this a while ago based on recommendations but then passed it over multiple times for other books. Turns out I should’ve started it. It was good. Yes you could see where it was going the whole time and no there weren’t any twists but it was still gripping and kept me turning the pages. Now I just have to say that I have ZERO triggers but that hanger scene had me gagging. I mean I was squinching my eyes, holding in a gag and trying to speed read through it. The pain was described so vividly I couldn’t help but imagine and feel it with her and I just could not. 🤢🤕 the mom really pissed me off. I just don’t know how realistic that was. You just got your daughter back from being kidnapped and months of torture and instead of doing anything for her you immediately go and do the exact opposite of what she’s asking?! Then she’s telling you the girl essentially helped keep her hostage and helped him with all of it and you just say you thought it’d be good for them both to live together again, all with you loving on her all in your daughters face?? I don’t believe it. I think any mom, especially one as good as she was described would do ANYTHING for the child that they got back when everyone else’s is dead. anyways it was a quick read and I definitely recommend it to anyone who is trying to decide whether to read.

Dark read
serial rapist kidnaps young virgin girls and locks them up in his basement. He brain washes them and grooms them then uses them until he grows tired of them. He then gets rid of them. Ella is his latest victim but she is a fighter . Sarah helps him with the girls and she has been with him the longest and was his first victim. She tells the girls that she is his daughter. This is a very dark book about a very sensitive subject so check your triggers . Unfortunately this does happen in real life . Sexual abuse, kidnapping . We get the present and flash backs with the girls telling their story. No issues with the seller and book was in good condition

Trigger warning ⚠️
Was a roller-coaster read. Many ups and downs and graphic iik topics and images go through your mind with this one. Easy to read and the right amount of shock vs predictability. Another good one. Thanks lucinda 😁

Impressionante!!!

Highly recommended!!
Absolutely fantastic! This book completely captivated me from the very first page. The pacing was perfect—never a dull moment—and it kept me on my toes the entire time. Just when I thought I had everything figured out, the plot twist hit...The author clearly put a lot of thought into every detail, and it paid off. A truly immersive and unforgettable read. Highly recommend!
