How many many batteries does it take?

The back end/shoulder extension moves so with it pushed all the way in, it measures 24". Or when extended, it measures 27" long.

Is it cheaper at stores ?

It has a retail value of about $50 this is way overpriced. If you can find one in store it will be much cheaper and wont be prevously used.
