While I am sure that it is not airtight in the technical sense of the word, the lid does close completely and no odor escapes. We have two cats and I have noticed a distinct absence of odor since we bought two of these (one for regular trash and one for recycling materials. We are very happy with these cans.

yes, mine went out yesterday. now it just slams the lid down. new dampers are easy to replace. just pull the old one out and stick the new one in. they are found on the iTouchless site for 19.99

Other websites list the dimensions are 10" L x 13.5" W x 24.75" H -- the same as what's listed on their website and states in the product information here. Due to the contradictions about the size, I'm hesitant to purchase the trash can. The space I have only fits the smaller dimensions. The only person responding about the discrepancy is th seller. Can someone who purchased the trash can measure theirs?
