Great collection of Skylanders
This 3 pack comes with some great characters. I bought it originally solely to get Pop Fizz, as we needed a magic element skylander. Pop Fizz is great, and is one of my son's new favorites, but the real surprise in this pack is Whirlwind. Whirlwind is a unicorn that shoots rainbows and leaves clouds behind to fight off enemies. As cheesy as that sounds, she is one of my favorites and has worked out very well. Although she isn't the strongest character, she is very lucky, so you can replenish her health often and easily. While aiming the rainbows can be difficult at first, they also go far, so shooting them as you walk (or fly!) towards enemies often does the job. She is very fast, too. Whirlwind is an air element. Trigger Happy is the third character included in this. Honestly, I don't really like that he has a gun/machine gun. He is a cute character, but the gun somewhat bothers me. I realize that the rest of the characters are shooting SOMETHING at the bad guys, but I personally am more comfortable with them shooting lasers from their eyes (or rainbows!), something my son can't replicate, than shooting a gun. So, if you are not gun friendly, you may want to skip this set or take Trigger Happy out of it when you get it, as the price on this is still probably worth getting the set even if you only use Whirlwind and Pop Fizz.

Gotta have if you love skylanders - Packs a punch
If you love skylanders as my son and I do, this is a great 3-pack. Probably the best 3-pack you can buy. You have to buy it here because from most places and the stores, this is the cheapest you will see for it. You get the three characters, Ignitor, Chill, and Zook. Chill: If you upgrade chill to the max and chose her thowing darts path, she is a strong character in the game. She is almost as powerful as stealth elf in terms of the damage and quickness of her attack. I think chill is the most versatile character and most fun to play. Ignitor: When fully upgraded, ignitor is a beast. He can deal out the damage with his flame sword and is decently quick with his attacks. Very offensive type of a character. Just smash everything that gets in your way. Zook: Is very powerful with his rocket shots, but is a little slow and is meant to be played as more of a long range and defensive character. His defensive shield will also serve you well over the time. Overall, if you don't have these characters, this set is worth it as all three are great characters. Some 3-packs have characters that you will never want to play. My son loves playing as all three of them and he is 5.

Had the first series one of whirlwind and trigger happy. Pop fizz new character.
Abilities: Pop Fizz: A-throwing potions B-drink potion go all jekyll and hyde (grow big and bash things) Z-change potions (there are three different ones) Whirlwind: A-toss rainbows B-whirl up a thunder cloud Z-fly Trigger happy: A-shoot money B-throw pot of money (like bomb?) Z-gatling gun (machine gun) Trigger happy in my opinion should be upgraded by the pot of money upgrades when given the choice. With one of each (series one with A ability gun upgrade and series two with pot of money upgrade) the upgrade of the pot of money was much better. Your pot of money get turned into a coin that when thrown will injure the enemy, act as a mine, and if it land on heads instead of tails (or vice versa I can't quick remember) will do more damage. I use it a lot to get enemies that can't reach me yet as it's almost a one shot kill each time. Whirlwind is NOT a favorite. It flys like all wind and other birds. The rainbows are not able to be aimed much and seem to take more time then most since they arch. They also don't do much damage although you can upgrade so it throws three instead of just one. The thunder cloud is also not much help as it doesn't go far and stays stationary. If you upgrade your clouds, however, you can use three and they will connect and injure those within the triangle. Pop Fizz is a nice character. Jekyll and Hyde is definitely this mad scientists nickname. When you upgrade you have three potion (green, yellow, and purple) but you start with a yellow potion that does damage when thrown. The green potion does damage and leaves acid to hurt those standing in it and the purple does damage will giving the potions legs for three to follow you around and I think do further damage (it's hard to tell). When you drink the potion after pressing B (which take a couple seconds so make sure you are out of hitting range) you turn a dark blue/purple "Hyde" version and grow to twice your size with no potions but the ability to beat your enemies into submission with your bare (and very large) hands. Reminiscent of Slam bam's button A ability. Only lasts a short while before reverting back to "Jekyll" with your potions back. Z button switchs between buttons.

Skylanders rule!
The Skylanders series is my granddaughter's latest passion. She has had to watch others play games too complex for her age. Most games are much too violent and should be adults only. Some are the stuff nightmares are made of. Skylanders is a simple game with a great story line. The villains are comical enough to be non threatening to youngsters. The hero figures give the game a real toy aspect that appeals to younger children. It can be played in multi player mode so I can share in the fun. This 2nd series came out in 2012 so the prices are very reasonable but the figures are hard to find! I was glad to find these on Amazon.com and for a great price. They arrived in record time and in perfect condition.

Looks promising.
My sons have played the original Skylanders at a friend's house and LOVED it. We got the "Skylanders:Giants Starter Kit" for a good deal. It comes with 3 characters, the video game, and the "portal" - everything you need for hours of fun. I have to admit being a lifetime gamer, I am looking forward to playing with them. We purchased this great triple pack to add to the three characters in the starter kit. They should be content with that for some time. In response to the previous review: Yes, it does say "Giants" but that is part of the title of the game, not a description of the contents of the 3-pack. Giants are available for purchase separately. There are 8-10 kinds of Skylanders: Water, Earth, Fire, Giant, etc. If you are looking for further information, this is an excellent place to start: [ ... ] I will probably update this review after Christmas, once we have had a chance to evaluate the actual gameplay.

What can I say? Skylanders are the biggest thing going right now!
My son is utterly obsessed with the Skylanders, and I can understand why! A game-changer platform lets him play with the physical toys (good for his little imagination) and also play with them in the video game! We bought this triple pack to supplement his growing collection, and I am really happy with the price. These triple packs regularly go on sale, so if you're feeling the sting on your wallet like I am, just keep a close eye on the prices of the different packs, you can usually save around $5 just by waiting until a decent sale.

Magically strong pack
A marvelous pack with powerful characters. Fright Rider is awesome, as he is personally my favorite character. Rider and his ostrich, Fright, work beautifully together. Fright bites enemies, while Rider uses his spear and jousts his enemies. Chompies need to "Fear the Spear!" -Fright Rider Wrecking Ball rolls over his enemies in a powerful attack, or he licks his enemies straight up. He acts a lot like a dog, which is funny and cool. Flameslinger has a cool accent, and when he runs he leaves behind a trail of fire to engulf enemies. He also shoots his flaming arrows, but the flame dash hurts more enemies.
