First time home owner and DIYer
I am a beginner DIYer and first time home buyer. This saw has been a great tool for me in my projects and easy to use. I bought a track for it and have can cut precise/flawless straight cuts. With the saw + track combo I will probably not need a table a saw for now.

Human review
I thought my saw was doing what i needed but this cuts so easily and so cleanly I feel silly for not getting it sooner.

Great basic framing saw.
I picked this saw up as a professional user for the framing parts of my projects. It is an excellent lightweight 7-1/4" circular saw with plenty of power (don't let the motor amperage put you off) all metal connections and adjustments (I'm not a fan of the plastic depth of cut hinge on a lot of circular saw models that call themselves professional these days). All in all a great basic framing saw.

Addressing some of the negative comments---
I actually give this saw a 4-star review. I am putting it in the 3-star group because I want to comment on some of the other 3-star reviews. I do agree that the safety button makes the saw a right-handed saw, however once the button is pressed and the trigger is pulled, the safety button does not need to be held in. Likewise, those comments regarding the button being hard to keep pressed, you don't need to worry about it once the trigger is pulled, so it really isn't a problem. If you find the recessed safety button a problem, you could put a sticky-backed felt pad on it. Makita designed it to guard against accidental starting and it does that. As for some comments about it being hard to push through the material being cut, I noticed that the spring on the saw guard is pretty strong and could make it hard to run through, especially on a thick piece. I usually hold the guard rotated to the forward position when I cut so that there is no spring force to overcome. As for the comment about the guide not lining up with the blade, you need to use the edge of the guide. That lines up perfectly. There is a notch near the guide and is marked 45. This is the guide mark for when the saw is cutting at a 45 degree angle. Some complained about the lack of power. This is a 10.5A saw. If you need more power then buy a 15A saw. I find cutting through a 2x4 is pretty quick but you need to let the saw do the work and not push it through. As for those that said theirs came with missing or damaged parts, that is on Makita and I assume that they got an exchange or a full refund. I like the light weight and it still feels solid in my hand. Probably not the best saw for harder woods but pine is not a problem.

Much better in every way than my Porter Cable PCE310. It is lighter, it has more adjustments, it is much easier to precisely control. The only thing that I don't like is the safety switch on the trigger, but it is easy to use and in a good position.

Good quality and works well. Took a bit of getting used to operating a safety button, but pleased overall. Plenty of power and easy to handle.
