Great for babies, travel and college kids!
I honestly was iffy on using a sound machine with our daughter and decided not to bother. We wound up taking a newborn sleep class that recommended one and after learning that itโs easy to wean baby off the sound machine (I was nervous weโd create a fussy sleeper), we decided to give it a shot. Weโve been using it for three months now and love it. Iโm also happy to say if I forget to charge it or accidentally leave it home while we are out, she can still sleep just fine. But this is great just to drown out background noise to help her fall asleep faster and stay asleep longer. I personally like no sound and light while Iโm sleeping but we still have her in a bassinet in our room and this doesnโt bother me at all. I honestly chose the Rohm for the reviews and, maybe even more so, for itโs look. I preferred the white which is why I didnโt get the baby version. Itโs small and chic to look at and love that we can use it as she gets older or even for ourselves down the road (as I could see this coming in handy for traveling) and it doesnโt scream โbaby gearโ. Love the little string that allows me to easily attach this to the stroller, car seat or diaper bag. At night, we typically just set this on the nightstand or even near her feet in the bassinet (every once and awhile sheโll kick it just right and switch the type of sound thatโs playing but that causes no harm and makes us laugh while she still sleeps away). There are only 4 buttons so itโs easy to turn off, control the volume or switch the sounds while juggling the baby in one hand and is simple for grandparents or sitters to figure out right away too. It fits in the palm of your hand so takes up hardly any real estate in the diaper bag while traveling. It easily lasts through the night and into daytime naps on one charge. I tend to pop it on the charger daily just because. I really love that it has a USB charger (I just use the plug-in from my iPhone) instead of batteries! I would definitely recommend this to anyone with a baby/toddler, someone who travels or even a college student (this would have come in handy in the dorms/college apartments). The quality is obvious and I feel like itโs honestly already laid for itself and we plan on using it for a long while. New parents, treat yourself to this or register for it! Or if you have new parents in your life, this would make a great gift.

Love this "Hush!"
This little white noise machine is fantastic! Took it to Ireland with me, easy to recharge, and I keep it handy to muffle the sound of piano-playing neighbor. I only like one of the settings, but you may prefer some of the others. Is a perfect travel companion for sleep quality or for those with tinnitus who need some gentle white noise.

Powerful little sound machine thatโs great for travel
This is the perfect white noise machine for travel. Itโs light, has a few simple sound and volume options but enough that you donโt feel like itโs lacking and both electrical outlet or battery operated. I took it with me to the hospital when I gave birth. The first night I used battery power only and it lasted through the night. After that I kept it plugged in so it didnโt randomly shut off on us. Itโs powerful for a little machine. The only issue I ran into was it stopped working when plugged into a couple outlets. (Iโm not an electrical engineer so it was bizarre to me that it worked in some and not others when I checked and all outlets powered my phone.) However, support is amazing. They were super responsive and offered to replace it immediately. Therefore, even if you end up with something wrong, you know that one year warranty will protect you.

QUIETER than my old white noise machine
Back in the old days, when I lived in Austin, Texas, and not everyone had air conditioning (it was a LONG time ago), I slept with a fan in the window to try and keep cool at night. It helped ever so slightly. But the interesting result was that the sound of the fan drowned out the sound of the neighborhood, thereby decreasing the incidence of noise intrusion into my sleep. I found that even after I actually HAD air conditioning, I missed the sound of the fan. First I used a tower-type air purifier type thing thinking at least that would be DOING something besides making noise, but that unit became another thing to take care of, cleaning the filter, dusting it, and moving it out of the way when I had company. I happened across the Marpac noise machines and started using those. LOVE THEM, but they didn't provide much in the way of controls - and they were LOUD. They eventually made a smaller "travel" model, with various international plugs and dual voltage, which I purchased and took with me all over the world. These had better volume controls and the ability to change the type of sounds (rain, waves, etc.) Ah ha, hotels now became more bearable: No more elevator pings, less chatter from the neighbors and less hallway interference. Then, I accidentally forgot to change my plug adapter from a foreign trip for a US trip. Shocking. I had to sleep au naturel. It drove me crazy, so I got out the next day and went to a Best Buy store. They don't really sell over the counter white noise machines. So I purchased a small, portable baby sleep machine, which I still take with me for travel because it operates on 3 AAA batteries so I don't need to charge it. But when I got home, I went back online to Marpac and found they made a smaller version of my old sleep noise machine with fewer bells and whistles. It is MUCH smaller than the old one I used to bring with me on trips, and is also much quieter. Yet somehow, it works very well. I'm sleeping as well as ever, but can't sleep without it. So between the portable battery operated one and the USB charged one - I am sleeping like a baby - at home and abroad. LOVE these machines and recommend them to everyone who is sleep challenged. Could just be the ambient noise in your room/house/hotel that's keeping you awake. But, beware, it's habit forming.

Randomly turns off
This is the 3rd sound machine I've purchased from Yogasleep. The other two developed issues after a year where they wouldn't turn off . This one developed issues after less than a *month*. Since then, whether it's plugged in or not plugged in (but fully charged), it'll turn off randomly during the night. Sometimes, after 30 min, sometimes after a few hours, sometimes after ~8. Frustrating. Would return, but I already threw the packaging away. Ugh!

Must have for someone who travels for work
This is my go to travel white noice machine. I use the dohm at home and this travel version creates the best, most seamless white noise in a digital format that Iโve found. I travel A LOT for work and in order to get good sleep I have to take my home setup with me on the road as best I can. I love how light weight this is, making it easy to throw in my carry on. It really helps me sleep anywhere and is a critical element to my routine. Apps just donโt do it for me, plus I like to fall asleep to a sleepy podcast which means I need a different white noise source. This fits the bill. Iโve used it for myself and my kiddo and it works great.

Very good!
I love these - the sound quality is great, as is the battery for the first couple of years. It's easy to travel with, hardly taking up any space. The only reason for subtracting a star is they only last ~3 years, then they don't work unless plugged in, then they die completely a few months after that. At the price point, it's not a huge deal. I just bought my 3rd one.

Marpac Rohm white noise machine #1 best quality - this little jewel works!! Addition: Sept 2019
I've had my portable Rohm for over a year now, and I love it! It is exactly as advertised. I remember thinking it didn't work when I first got it, but after reading some of the reviews on the "power button" issue, it was no problem. This is what one review said, and I concur:" ...turning the unit over and holding down the power button until the small indicator light comes on. As soon as it comes on, I let go. Even then, there is half a second delay before I hear "noise" but it works every time. So no more holding it down for a few seconds and wondering if that was long enough." In answer to 'why do you have to hold the button down so long'? Another review suggested, and it makes sense, that it's probably to keep it from accidentally getting turned on and running the battery down. Okay, now to continue my review. I use my unit every night and prefer the quiet ocean waves setting. I place the unit about 2 ft away on a level with my head. Perfect! It is small and easy to pack also, so I've used it when traveling - awesome! The only quirky thing I've noticed is that sometimes when I plug it in to charge after sleeping 8 hrs, the amount of time to full charge seems to vary. When you plug it in, the indicator light flashes, and when it's fully charged, the light goes off. It hasn't been a problem, because I plug it in just as soon as I get up. (I also have a larger Rohm white noise machine, which I leave in place outside my bedroom door, and it works well, too, just not really a portable unit.) ADDITION 9.14.19 - I found one more great way to use this and wanted to share it. I am a highly sensitive person with anxiety disorder which can be triggered by very bright lights as well as loud or continuous mechanical sounds, low or high pitched. In addition to using the Marpac Rohm unit as a second white noise machine for sleeping, I am now using it while awake especially in my kitchen area, with no TV or other background noise playing, to block out a constant low hum from a new modem installed by my cable company. I thought I would be able to tune out this hum, but after a few days I found myself with underlying anxiety after being exposed to this new noise for only a few minutes. I got my portable white noise unit, turned on my waves and was immediately soothed. I am using it throughout the day now, for instance, while I'm reading - it helps me stay focused - or at other times when I find myself distracted. I hope this will help even one other person who deals with anxiety issues. It is a marvelous little miracle for me. I love it!

Will recommend
Battery can go a good run with one charge. I put it on charger during the night when I put the baby for the long sleep stretch and donโt need to move it around so much. Still, I donโt have to charge it every night. The three sounds are quite alright (soft and gentle and cannot hear a loop even if there is one), volume levels are good - I enjoy the option for rapid increase/decrease of the volume, when needed. I like that the size allows to put it my diaper bag or a purse when out. Best feature compared to other sound machines Iโve used, is that there is no timer - baby sleeps peacefully without getting startled each time a timer runs out.

Travel noise machine
It is small and light. We use it as baby sleep aid. On the down side, it will last about 2 nights before we run out of battery. It will play while charged but issue may arise if not removed every couple weeks. As we donโt travel with it, in retrospect perhaps we should have bought dohm. However it is definitely a good buy.

Good CS, device works well
First one I bought was a lemon - it wouldn't charge, and even when plugged in it wouldn't work. I emailed customer service and got a new one in a few days that worked perfectly, so I was really pleased with the customer service. I use this in my baby's nursery and I also bring it with me when I go out, as sometimes my son gets cranky for a nap or is falling asleep and this helps to drown out all the noise. It's the perfect size for travelling. I keep it plugged in all night when I put it on to make sure it doesn't turn off as I read that the battery doesn't always last long. I have it at level 2/3 volume and I find it pretty loud. I only use the pink noise setting (second one)

Ideal for what we needed
Despite its size, this unit packs plenty of oomph, providing as much or as little white noise as needed. Plus, it is portable. Very happy.

IT WORKS!
I was bothered by the stomping sound created by my neighbor living above my flat. Decided to try this noise machine and am pleasantly surprised that it works! I shared this with a few friends who bought it as well and told me that it helped them as well.
