Would this work as a foot stool on a plane?

As most planes have limited foot space to begin with, I would not recommend this as a foot stool on a plane. The height and depth of the stool would be too large and would interact with the seat in front. You would have to bend your leg beyond 90 degrees and sit in an upright fetal position for it to be viable.

Can this be taken in a carry on? Or would it need to be checked in my luggage?

Is it good for urban sketching

I don’t know what urban sketching is but it is sturdy but a little lower to the ground than I would have liked. It is very lightweight which is good.
