I ended up buying four of these converters to connect several older devices to modern HDMI TVs, and they all worked as expected. Setup was straightforward — plug the RCA cables into the converter, connect HDMI to the TV, and power it with the included USB cable. The picture quality is about what you’d expect when converting composite video to HDMI. It’s not going to turn an older signal into true HD, but it displays the image clearly and makes it easy to use older equipment on newer displays. I tested them with a few different devices and they worked without any issues. They’re also small enough to tuck behind a TV or entertainment center without taking up much space. Overall, this is a simple and effective solution if you need to connect older devices like retro game systems, VCRs, or DVD players to an HDMI-only TV.

I bought this to run my old Wii on a newer TV with only HDMI inputs. It works fairly well and doesn't seem to introduce too much lag. I will warn you, however, that it needs to be plugged into a USB port constantly in order to work. The Wii has USB ports, but if your device doesn't, you'll need an adapter for that as well. Easy to use, though; just plug and play.

I needed a down and dirty solution to connect an old Karaoke player to a big screen TV and sound system at my grand daughter's reception. This was a cheap solution and it worked just fine. It won't win any prizes for build or USB connections (a funky, no longer supported USB charging port, but you get the cable for it), but the audio and video to HDMI worked great, permitting the entire party to singalong to the karaoke.

This converter box is pretty well-made, and was very easy to use. There is minimal lag in the conversion between formats, but there is a very little bit still there. I use this box to convert HDMI to an audio coaxial, so I could hook it up into my Buttkicker base shaker. While the lag is there, for that functionality it’s a little less noticed. Nonetheless, it’s good to know before buying! I do appreciate how small the box is, and while it’s too bad you have to supply power externally, I guess it makes sense that the HDMI can’t power it.

You might wonder why I’m even trying to hook up a VCR to a smart TV. The reason is simple—I still have a large collection of home VHS recordings as well as plenty of children’s tapes that I want to keep using. My TV does include component-style RCA inputs on the back, and I’ve successfully connected a Nintendo Wii that way. However, using the same approach with the VCR didn’t work. This solution, on the other hand, was truly plug-and-play and delivers the kind of picture quality you’d expect from an older VCR. I agree with others that switching between 720p and 1080p made no noticeable difference. It’s unclear whether that setting actually does anything, because the image didn’t become sharper or clearer. I ended up leaving it set to 1080p since it’s generally considered better suited for modern HDTVs. One important note: you do need to supply USB power for this to function. A cable is included for a 5V power source. My TV has two USB ports, and I also use a USB hub to expand the number of available connections. UPDATE: I ordered a different brand Viagkiki from Amazon and found that the picture is slightly better and clearer then this one.

I bought this BD&M RCA to HDMI Converter to connect my older gaming consoles and VCR to a modern 4K TV, and it works perfectly. The setup was incredibly simple—just plug and play. The 1080P output is clear, and the colors look much better than I expected for a composite signal. It’s a very cost-effective way to enjoy retro tech on new screens. For the time that it DID work it was amazing...then 4 days ago the audio went out on it and then yesterday the picture went out and this last time was accompanied by a hot plastic smell.. the unit was warm and since then nothing has functioned at all...every time I turn it on theres nothing, no sound, no picture... it just heats up a bit and stays that way. It's possible that this is a one off sort of deal and like I said originally for the time it worked I was pretty impressed...though admittedly it hasn't left the best impression on me... I won't be buying it again

I recently found my original Gamecube from 2003 with all original power supply and VGA cables. However, my flat screen does not have VCA out, but it does have HDMI in. I ran my Gamecubes VGA cables into the adapter box, then HDMI out the other side into my TV. Give the little box power via a small gen 1 USB cable, select 1080p or 720p and let er rip. At first there was a ton of artifacting from up scaling, so I turned it to 720p and it looked worlds better. I guess older tech won't up scale as cleanly as others like Xbox 360 does. This little box is an awesome value, easy to use, and the clarity was super good for a Gamecube upscaled to 720p. Resident Evil 4 in HD here I come!

Doesn't seem to work, get no signal in obs studio & on my old TV 90% of the time. When using cables directly it works.

This product is Exceptional, Outstanding and Unbelievable. At this price, it is able to convert the analog audio to digital audio without any drop in the quantity. I played the a HQ audio with bluetooth and then via this device and found that the audio quality of this device was much better. So don't give a second thought, just go for it!
