I have black hair. According to the box, the color will not show unless I bleach otherwise I'll get a subtle dark blue which I thought was cool. Well my hair is BLUE. The color came out rich and vibrant! My hair is semi porous so that might account for the color. I'd buy it again/

Yes, it is a beautiful color. It colors over gray, (silver)which not all colors do. BUT NO, you cannot do this IN THE SHOWER, Come on....If you do, yes, it will stain everything.You need to 1) have damp hair 2) use Vaseline around your face and neck 3) use gloves (I've seen reviews complaining about it staining their hands) 4) apply, put up. Then use a blow dryer or a blowdrycap to apply heat. 5) leave on 2 hours 6) rinse out in a stainless steel sink, not the shower. It will still stain your bare fingernails when you run your nails through your scalp for a week. But do all this stuff and you get a beautiful color that stays longer than all the others I've tried.

I have dark blue hair to begin with, I just needed something to refresh the color and get my roots. I had heard people rave about this brand, so I thought I would give it a try.OMG...For starters, you need to splatter proof any area you are in, because this stuff gets everywhere and instantly stains counters, floors, walls, etc. Second I left on my roots for 45 minutes, 20 minutes in I put the rest from root to tip. When I rinsed it out with the coldest water I could, my roots were like sky blue and the rest of my hair was a lot darker. It looked awful. Sadly I had to wear a ball cap for about a week until I could take that color out and put my usual dark indigo back in.Not a fan at all, I'll stick with Garnier.

Very bright color and stays for pretty good amount of time depends on how many times you wash your hair
