I like this brand of hair color conditioner. I compare my experience to my long-time use of Aveda Clove -- they discontinued Aveda Clove and I was quite sad about that as it was my 'go-to' for those times I wanted to add a boost of color to my not-dyed (natural-color) hair. However, I did a lot of research and gave a lot of thought and read a lot of reviews before I picked dpHue, as I wanted something close to Aveda Clove, or even better. In some ways this is better than Aveda Clove in that it puts much more shine and body to my hair. My hair looks gorgeous the day of, so I like to use it if I am going out or have something special to do. I have medium-dark brown hair with some grey sprinkled throughout. This hair conditioner adds a deeper tone to my hair and gives it beautiful body and bounce and shine. It tones down my greys so they aren't as noticeable but of course doesn't cover them completely - but I have a lot more dark hair than grey so that helps. Also a positive is it does not turn my hair reddish - that's why I picked the cool instead of the warm. The color actually beats out Aveda Clove in that Clove sometimes could look a little reddish or a little too dark. I only left this on so far anywhere between 3 minutes and 5 minutes. I used a cap while in the shower so I didn't accidentally rinse it away. I am going to try leaving it in longer to see how my results are now that I know it doesn't cause damage or make my hair too dark. I wish it lasted longer but I can't remember if Clove lasted longer than this brand or not. It'll last through maybe 4 shampoos, maybe. The shine and bounce really only last the first two shampoos while the color gradually but quickly fades over the next few days. But it is gentle enough to use frequently if you choose to do that. I use it maybe once a week or every 2 weeks. And, perhaps leaving it in longer will give me longer results. I will order again. And in fact, I really want to try the clear dpHue to see how it works in my hair. It's a little pricey but you often have just what you pay for so I don't mind paying more for quality.

I recently got highlights and loved the placement, but they were a bit too light for me. The contrast with my natural color, which has darkened over the years (I used to be a dirty blonde) felt too strong. I ordered the medium blonde shade (I hesitated between medium and dark blonde, but I’m glad I chose medium). I first tested the product on my natural hair for 5 minutes and didn’t notice much change. I then applied it to the highlights, the same way you would use a conditioning mask, and left it on for about 15 minutes. The highlights turned a beautiful golden tone, and the platinum blonde was completely gone. I used only about a quarter of the bottle. I’m really happy that it didn’t hide the highlights entirely. I was aiming for a softer, more subtle look, and this delivered exactly that. My hair also feels very soft, and I definitely noticed the deep conditioning effect. I like the golden tone because it suits my complexion, and my hair naturally has some copper in it, so I wasn’t surprised that it leaned warm. I was specifically looking to shift from a cool tone to a warmer one. That said, if you’re looking for a cooler or ashier result, this might not be the best shade for you. Overall, I’m very satisfied. It is on the pricey side, but I still have about three-quarters of the bottle left, so it feels worth it. Adding pictures, because seeing other people’s results really helped me choose my shade!

I was not expecting a whole lot but this product superceeded my expectations. The only thing I dislike is having to wash and wet my hair previously because it's winter and I was cold but it was super easy to apply. I found it easier to apply than regular hair dye and much less toxic. I used a bowl and an application brush from Sally beauty supply and there was no mess. It was a very creamy conditioner and I could see how people say one bottle will last for a while because I probably only used about a quarter and my hair is hip length. So, because of it's creaminess there was no mess. I left it on for 30 minutes. When I went to rinse I didn't lose hardly any color, just a little bit everybody's hair is different. Another thing too, I co-wash so I didn't use shampoo I used my conditioner. So, I rinsed and I was pleasantly surprised. The color took much stronger than my usual hair dye and it was much gentler on my hair. My hair felt very conditioned. My grays were completely covered which I was unsure about but they were covered completely and came out a beautiful light copper that you can see in my pictures. You can see my bangs too there are a lot of grays at the roots that were completely covered. So, I am definitely leaning towards this method going forward since it feels so good and works well. This works for me because I only wash my hair once a week and it's only a co-wash. My climate is at elevation and cold alpine so conditioning is extremely important here. I usually dye my hair (roots) every month so by then it will only be 4 co-wash cycles. So, if you co- wash this could be great for you. I also love that they have so many different colors for people to chose them, there is a color for everybody. So, I think this is a winner for me. Knowing how much I condition my hair and how gentle co-washing is I don't expect to lose too much color. I'm also looking forward to more beautiful highlights the more grays I get. I will update this review after a month but so far I really like this product.
