Review: This was super helpful as I'd originally only planned to see Zion ... - This book was an essential resource for my trip to the Utah National Parks. As well as Zion and Bryce, it also covers Arches, Canyonlands, Capitol Reef, and Grand-Staircase Escalante. This was super helpful as I'd originally only planned to see Zion and Bryce, but after reading about the others in this book, I decided to visit all of them. The day hike descriptions were especially useful in helping me decide which hikes to do; the book doesn't list every hike in every park but does cover a good range of popular hikes as well as those less trails less traveled. It also includes accessibility information, recommendations for activities with kids, and information for more seasoned outdoorsy types who want a more challenging experience. In short, everyone can benefit from this book, regardless of ability, age, or interest. The only letdown were the restaurant reviews. Several great (healthier, affordable) places to eat were left out but they included sub-par burger joints. That was kind of weird. I also wished they had been more explicit about the fact that the three towns around Bryce (Tropic, Panguitch, and Bryce Canyon City) are really tiny and have extremely limited resources. I'd have bought food near Zion otherwise and brought it with me for 2 days in the Bryce area. Overall, this is a must-read for anyone considering a trip to the Utah parks. It even includes a short section on Las Vegas which is the closest major airport you can fly into. I relied on this book every day for information on how to get around and what to see, so I'd highly recommend it. Review: This book is wonderful! The book is nicely organized by park and highlights the top hikes in each one. Each section and park have one page that states "why go here" with the main highlights all in one location for your convince. I especially love all of the pictures in this book! Other books I have gotten in the past have had a few pictures but not to this extent of in color! I feel like pictures really help sell the hikes. I would have never wanted to go on half of the hikes I went on if it weren't for the pictures in this book. Zion and Bryce are beautiful places and if you're looking for a great book to help you plan this is the one to get. It also has other information like what to expect in each season and nearby amenities. It also has white water rafting information if you're looking to add that to your trip!

Best guide book for Southern Utah parks
I have read many books from the library in preparation for travel in this area. I found this one to be the best so this is the one I ordered to take on the trip .It has the most details in rating the activities, hiking ,lodging and food in not just Zion and Bryce but all the parks in the surrounding southern Utah area. Moons guidebook on Zion and Bryce was just as good but I had to choose one. This is the only book you will need for travel and exploration of this area.

Lonely Planet guides are well organized, up to date and an essential piece of gear
Lonely Planet guides are my go to guides whenever I travel abroad or domestically. Their guide books are well organized and well written. They also keep them up to date for the most part. I've tried countless others but for my travel style this guide is the best. The illustrations and format make it very easy to look up information quickly and skip over parts that don't necessarily interest you. I've used them for over 20 years and have yet to find a better guide.

Great guide across the national parks of southern Utah!
The trail descriptions were extremely useful when planning my trip around southern Utah, as was the information about the surrounding areas. This book is full of useful information and I would highly recommend it for anyone planning to visit these parks. The guide was easy to read with good maps. It was great to have descriptions/ info of the Grand Staircase Escalante NM and state parks along the way. I flagged sections and made notes as I read along and we referenced back to these often throughout the trip. Will definitely purchase others by Lonely Planet for future trips.

Very Good Advice on Trails
I can't tell you how thankful I am to have bought this guide book. It provided very accurate information about the parks. In particular the advice the book gives on the most popular trail combination in Bryce. It stated to take the Queen Garden trail first and then make the ascent up Wall Street and it was 100% accurate on this. My friend and I are very thankful on this advice. I highly suggest this guidebook for your travels to these beautiful parks as it will make it much more enjoyable.
