Lovely phone. Came to this from a Windows Lumia 640 LTE which was a couple of years old mainy to get Android Auto use on my VW Golf. Mk 7.5, I find it much faster and easier to use and it works very well on Android Auto (it does Mirrorlink too), incuding the voice recognition. The phone is so well made, sleak but not slippery, good HD display that can actually be used in quite bright sunlight. Fingerprint recognition is great and works well. The power button is poorly placed - on the opposite side of the phone to the volume buttons so there is a tendancy to switch phone off when all you wanted was to adjust the volume. This is because, using one hand, your fingers squeeze the case just where those buttons are. Camera is easy to use and can be activated very easily by two quick presses on the 'home' button, and the +volume button can be used as the shutter release. Shot's are decent but you couldn't realistically compare the results to those of a decent cameraI. I read on the internet that the focus on selfies was way off. It's fixed focus, not auto, but the focal distance can be set manually to suit your personal shooting style so that is covered. I bought direct from Samsung ultimately - they had a great offer that lasted for a day. I'm really pleased with it - can't imagine an S8 or S9 is worth all that extra, but the camera would almost certainly be better.

Was ok and a perfectly good phone but incredibly breakable. It fell out of my pocket and the screen shattered completely and broke. Got it fixed and it broke again a week later :(

It was this or a Oneplus 3 or 3T for me. The Onepus has the better specs, but my heart decided on a gold Samsung A5 2017 - picked it up for £280, which was a price i was happy to pay for it. It looks lovely and does exactly what i wanted from it - which is not have me getting frustrated waiting for it to do things, a situation my Moto e3 was always putting me in. Photos from both cameras look great to me, and I'm just getting to know some of the snazzy things it can do - the split screen function in Nougat (which you automatically get now on initial power up) is really handy. So, a beautifully made, sleek smartphone that works at things as quick or quicker than my i5 6600, 16gb RAM powered PC..!! That's about what I got for my money....oh, and the display for video playback is fantastic, whilst the Blue Light removal tech of the phone makes the whole issue of staring at a screen very much less of a strain on the eye - putting the Moto and the Samsung next to each other shows up just how much more 'glarey' and harsh the older phone's display is. I love my new Samsung A5 2017..!! (can you tell ?)

Bought for y wife. Good display and certainly faster than her old mobile.Good camera and resolution. Average energy consumption. Very good looking in a metal case. Sensitive to touch, and with its sensitive screen and button placement you can easily close or switch to another app without meaning to. Not very resistant to falls and design is not at all safe when it comes to accidental damage. Not many built in applications and relies heavily on non-Samsung apps which is a disappointment considering its brand and customers expectations.

Bought this to avoid paying over the odds with a contract phone, along with a SIM. Overall I have saved so much money doing it this way. The phone is pretty, I have rose gold, sturdy and has a great battery life. It helps that it comes with a fast charger so form 0% to 100% in less than an hour. The power saving mode is AMAZING and can take 10% to over 25% and last for a good day. Easy to use, nice size, not those great big mammoth ones that fit neither in your hand or pocket. Cons - Samsung will constantly update their own apps that you disable no matter how many times you do so and also records you as you soon see with the ads that pop up unsolicited. Not sure I'll go for another Samsung next time but will stick to android.
