Is the protector removable if broken to replace? Or is the adhesive permanent?

Can you remove it? What about the glue? My concern is if the glue can be remove from the screen without damage it.

I have not tried it, as it fit so perfect without any air bubble that no need to pull out. After a month also it looks totally new without any scratches. That's the advantage of Glass case over others. But I am pretty sure there are some ways to pull it out in case of damage, such as using hot air of Hair driyer and thine plastic film for gently removal of glass screen.

Does this work with the otterbox defender series case?

YES, it does if installed in correct way. WHEN INSTALLING YOU MUST PUSH SCREEN PROTECTOR ALL THE WAY TO THE TOP OF THE INSTALLATION GUIDE STOPS! What this does is leave room at the bottom so the case does not lift it when put your phone in you pocket etc. I installed this way and cannot push the otterbox defender case from the top or bottom enough to touch the screen protector anywhere. I work in construction industry and am very hard on my phone. Have been using it for weeks now with no issues. Only glass screen protector i have found that works with defender and fingerprint scanner still works great.

I was unaware that the s21 ultra had a plastic cover over the screen. i have installed this over that. is this going to be a problem?

Sounds like a big problem to me. As I understand your question the cover that comes on the phone is a temporary protection that you remove when you get a better protector. That’s what I did.
