Great tool for drilling axle holes in a pinewood derby car
This too works great for drilling holes to insert the axles for a pinewood derby car. It comes with the frame to attach to the car and the drill bit that fits the holes perfectly. The tool has matching holes on each side so you know the axles are aligned. You have a choice of angled holes (2.5 degrees ) for the rear wheels and straight alignment for the front (and rear if you want them straight. There is also a hole to elevate one wheel if you want to have your car run on 3 wheels instead of 4. It's easy to use and comes with instructions. I do wish the instructions mentioned the angled wheels are for the rear. I had to research that point. The tool has everything you need and works great!

Fast, simple, with great results
Why did you pick this product vs others?: Great tool that's fairly easy to use. Takes away the challenge of using the typical axel grooves. Simply align, clamp securely and drill. Cars ran straight and I was able to drill and secure axels into wood block cut down to about ¼" or less.

Up your Pinewood race car building abilities!
In Grampa’s pinewood derby building shop, this takes those builds to the next speed level and true alignments. Perfect jig for the issued cub scouts car kits. Then can be used for complete custom builds to official specs.

expensive but worked appropriately
I feel like this item is pricy but it worked as expected.

Nice tool, but somehow ended up with a car that tried to track on two wheels instead of thred
This review is for PRO Driller Tool for use in Pinewood Derby Cars - Straight Axle Holes - 2.5 Degree Axle Holes - Raised Wheel Hole Purchased to provide precision axle placement on our BSA pinewood derby car. Plan was to have one wheel raised and run the other three at a 2.5 degree angle... Pros: Easy attachment to frame includes the correct drill bit that fits guide holes included instructions that were clearly written and easy to follow. Cons: Guide holes not labeled (you need to refer to the instructions to know which hole does what). Guide attaches securely to wood without issue. Included drill bit ensures your hole is the right size for the BSA kit included nails/axles. I only wish the holes on the guide were labeled so I didn't have to keep referring to the printed instructions when choosing which hole to use. That said, all the product pictures clearly show the holes are NOT labeled, so I'm not going to ding the product for not having them labeled, and I have no doubt that adding such labeling would drive the price up considerably. As is, this is a great tool at a very reasonable price.

Precision tool for Pinewood Derby cars!
High quality, adjustable precision tool. It's several steps above the standard Derby Car drilling guide. It even has a hole for one wheel to be higher than the other three. I highly recommend it.

Works perfectly - usable year after year
Another mechanical engineer reviewer here. This was our first time building a pinewood derby car and we chose to use this jig versus the factory axle slots to get a longer wheel base and better placement of axles. This precision machined jig is perfect for drilling axle holes whether you want straight, raised or canted. The supplied drill bit is fine. Plenty sharp to cut through the soft pine wood car body. As another reviewer stated, slowly guide the bit in the desired hole before starting the drill to prevent the bit catching the aluminum. We held the drill still and pushed the car and jig into the spinning drill bit to make the holes. Felt that had less chance of catching the aluminum block with the bit. The #44 size drill bit is perfectly matched to the standard BSA nails and allows you to push them into the drilled holes by hand and the holes hold them firmly in place. You should use a separate clamp to hold this jig in place on the wood block but it’s not absolutely necessary. It adds another point of precision to your build using the clamp to ensure the jig doesn’t slip during drilling and moving to the other side. My son’s car took first place overall in his pack and this jig definitely helped in that. He used the straight holes for both rear wheels and one front wheel with bent axles, and the raised hole with a straight axle in the other front wheel. Great investment for future pinewood derby builds.

Need to go Fast!
Picked this up to help end the extremely frustrating pinewood derby build with my son. The jig came fully assembled and was extremely easy to use. The guides lined up perfectly and fit squarely with the official pinewood derby wood block. Given that this is a very specific, one use tool, this is definitely a solid value for the money.

Pinewood Derby Drill Jig
Excellent little jig, well constructed for home use. If you are a Scouter/ Scout leader planning on doing hundreds of cars per year, the aluminum construct will eventually wear out. Haven't looked to see if the manufactured produces a similar product with drill bushings for longevity. However this little jig worked excellent and I'm sure I'll get many years of use out of it!

Poor quality screws.
Quality of the screws holding the block together are made of poor quality metal.
