NO MORE DUCKS!
I've had ducks in my pool every late-winter into spring for years. They make a mess with feathers and poop! These made all the difference!! After placing them in water, no more ducks! I added a shoelace and tied a small weight (dive ring) on each so the wind won't blow them out of my pool. GREAT invention!

Easy but ineffective
Simple to setup and use, but it just didn't work. Birds continue to approach it without fear.

These balloons combined with golf balls seem to be a winning combination!
Every year we have a mating pair of Mallard ducks take refuge in our pool. They seem to alternate between our pool, our neighbors pool, and the other neighbors pond. I have tried just about everything to get rid of them. Floating alligators - after 1 day they were sitting on their head! Solar powered noise repellents - no affect. Solar powered noise making owl - no affect. Plastic hawks - no affect. etc, etc, etc, I hung a 3 of the balloons around the pool and floated 9 in the pool. I attached a weight to the bottom so the tassels are on top blowing in the wind. I also tethered a few to one spot and let the others float around the pool. It does appear that the ducks do not like the balloons. They will still get in the pool, but spend much more time on land. HOWEVER, THIS IS WHAT DOES SEEM TO WORK! --- GOLF BALLS!!!! A few days ago I started throwing golf balls towards them. They make a big splash and the ducks take off. It's been a few days now and I haven't seen them! I don't even have to leave my porch. The golf balls do not harm my pool liner and they are easy to retrieve. So far - so good. Those pesky ducks are very, very smart and very cute. If they just wouldn't crap all over the concrete around the pool they would have free room and board!

Inside barn, so can't be sure if they work yet
I ordered this along with the holographic tape to stop birds nesting in my barn, and roosting on my pergola above the deck. Over the past 10 years or so, Starlings have become so numerous around my acreage, that they are driving away the other birds, get inside my pole barn and crap on EVERYTHING, and trying to peck their way into my chimney. And there's no water supply near the barn, so I can't even use my pressure washer out there to clean it up. I have to stop them. My circumstances are vastly different from most. I don't live in a subdivision with houses close together and trees and fences everywhere. I'm literally in the middle of farmland, on a hill, no trees or structures to slow down the wind. You don't know what wind is until you're in my shoes, or live in hurricane country. 40 to 50 mph wind speeds are common here, and during storms they reach 65 to 70 mph. Everything has to be bolted down. So putting all kinds of gadgets outside isn't an option, when the wind can pick up a 300 lb trampoline, and rip off a metal pergola that was lag bolted to the deck, and hurl them 100 feet. I try to explain my wind issues to people and they just don't understand. I can't use the same things as everyone else. Then there's all the farming activity, producing huge dust storms every spring and fall, which leaves a layer of dirt on everything. So I've been researching all the deterrents on here, and trying to find something that might work in my situation. I passed on all of the gels, because the airborne dirt will stick to them and turn them to muddy tar, ruining any effects they have. I decided to try the holographic tape, along with these eyeballs. The eyeballs, which are the equivalent of a beach ball, would not survive outside in the wind. I chose them to hang inside the barn, in front of the windows that they nest above. I plan to hang the tape around the inside and outside of the barn. Worst that can happen is the tape gets ripped off and blown away. I need assistance with that since the barn is so tall, so for now I just have one eyeball inside the barn and I'm going to add 2 more. While waiting for my son to come help with the 20 ft ladder around the barn, I decided to try something else I found at the dollar store. It's this mylar "fringe door curtain" decoration, like the one in the picture, except that one is like the holographic tape, and the one from the dollar store is just plain silver. It was only a few bucks, and I thought I would just give the whole reflective idea a try with it while waiting for these eyeballs and the tape to arrive. So I grabbed 3 little Command hook double sided tapes, stuck them to the top of the door frame on the stationary side of my patio door, and stuck the curtain to them. They hold great and will be easy to remove. So it hangs down and billows in the breeze. It gets a big tangled, but a minute or so of running my fingers down through it like a comb, untangles it. The starlings used to come roost on the pergola over the deck about a half dozen times a day. Once I hung that curtain, they stopped coming that very day. The next morning one was back on the chimney pecking away on the chimney guard again, as they had been for 2 weeks. I went outside and scared it away, and they haven't been back on the chimney since. In the last 5 days, I saw a half dozen or so out on the barn roof, which is a good 200 ft away. But I haven't seen them up there since. There was one inside the barn at the nest, when I went in to hang the eyeball and it flew out. I haven't had a chance to go back yet to check and add the other two eyeballs. I'm going to get them ready for when my helper comes, and we will decorate that barn like there's a party going on. So for now I can't speak to the effectiveness of these eyeballs, but will try to update this in a few weeks, if I can figure out how to do that. I'm just so amazed by that mylar fringe curtain having chased them off, all except for their nesting spot. I'm going to order that holographic fringe and some pinwheels that are the same sparkly effect. I'm going to attach the pinwheels to the deck railings with some zip ties, maybe put an eyeball in the pool, and string that tape everywhere. It may look crazy here when I'm done, but nobody can see my house and barn where it sits anyway.

I had my doubts that these balloons would work but ...
I had my doubts that these balloons would work but my wife and I have been quite surprised at the success. We have an uncovered back patio with large trees that attract many birds. Normally, I have to keep our patio furniture covered to keep the mess from the birds from piling up on our table and chairs. Typically, the furniture becomes completely covered in bird droppings within 1-2 days and have to be hosed off, sometimes with a pressure washer. Two weeks ago I put up two of the three balloons I received into my trees directly above the furniture at approximately 25 feet high. They worked immediately! I noticed the birds hanging out in my neighbors' trees, then some would land in my trees but only stay for 10-15 seconds and then fly away. We also noticed that in the morning there are normally many birds in our backyard but not since I put up these balloons. Over the past 2 weeks we have had only 2 minor instances of bird droppings on our furniture rather than the entire table being covered. Now, the only thing left to evaluate is effectiveness over a long period of time. UPDATE: It's now been 6 weeks since I put 2 of these in my trees above my patio. Still working very well! Only 1-2 spots of droppings per week at the most and some weeks it has stayed dropping free. Also seems to deter squirrels as we have noticed much less activity and spots where they dig. Our problem birds included Black Crows/Grackles, Pigeons, Doves, Blue Jays, and Sparrows. They still come around (as we like seeing the birds) but they tend to stay out of the trees directly above our patio. Still a great product!

Poor Quality Control
Good idea. Poor quality control. About 1/3 have issues. some won't hold air, some have glued plastic attachment rings for the sting that simpy fall off. Some hold up pretty well.
