This map was perfect for the session I was planning. so here is a bit of background. I started getting into dungeon crafting for my various gaming groups. I was planning to layout an abandoned village. After calling up the map form the module I realized that the battle map I had wasn't big enough. ( Yes i could have scaled down on the number of buildings i built but that wasn't the effect i was going for) I had been looking at these matts for a little while and decided to get one to fit this build. It was perfect. The only issue I had was laying the pathways between buildings. which i overcame with some tan painters masking tape. Wet erase markers do not work very well in terms they do not stand out against the color pallet of the image on the mat. but that is minor compared tot he affect the map added to the buildings. IT sold on the map the size isn't an issue as i routinely host groups of 5-8 players for a game. Im going to order the whole set for my table.

Certainly not as HQ as say a mousepad mat or some other flocked game mats but it does the job and is an okay price. It will likely last a few years at least. I would say it gets a solid B rating as far as wargaming mats go. I have been wargaming for 20+ years.

Bought this and the one with Grid Lines for D&D 5e. Just getting started as a DM. Currently running Lost Mines of Phandelver (LMoP). Adding this mat has added so much experience to our playing. Before this I was drawing out on notebook paper. (And that's okay if youre sticking to a budget. But being this is half the cost of a video game... its money well spent). Speaking of a budget, this is the perfect price point for these mats. Well done guys! But also a few notes on how to improve your experience: -- Super Clear 100% Vinyl clear table cloth. Get it just larger than the size mat you order. -- Versa Chalk Wet Erase markers Here's some photos comparing side by side with 48 x 72 with Grids. I really dif the grid as perfectly set. 1" and light enough to not interfere with the texture but enough that it's usabale. Pick either up you won't be disappointed. They both lie perfectly flat (now if I can just get the clear tablecloth creases out) Oh one more thing, it does not slip or slide on an avg kitchen table. Stays in place. Simple vinyl mat. Didn’t move around while playing. Ends curl but flattened easy.
