Bought to run temple of elemental evil by Gary gygax, and itโs been a godsend you can fit two of the large maps on here since itโs so big, making it easy to have my next map drawn and ready way before I even need it, which is a relief. The map itself is of great quality and cleans off nicely with dry erase markers and spray rubbing alcohol. The price originally seemed a little high but itโs totally worth it.

Lot of haters in the reviews. No it is not dry erase safe. No it's not very thick, it's as thick as a standard banner if you've ever felt the vinyl they use for that you're familiar with the thickness. What it is is half the price of the others. One reviewer mentioned how the grid was off and had pictures. The first thing I did was measure the grid and it was spot on so that issue has since been fixed. There is a little glare from the light. If you have a destructive cat keep this away, that little jerk will absolutely tear up your $40 battle mat into useless rags. Hasn't happened to me yet I just know how my lil guy is. It's huge. Not sure if that's not apparent. It's 4x6' so it's the size of a small rug. It arrives in a tube rolled up to prevent creasing. In all I'm very happy to have spent half as much on a mat that fits the bill just fine. Sure I'd love one of the $80 ones but this gives me $40 more to spend on more maps or minis. Unless you're a real stickler for quality products you'll be happy enough with the compromise. I am.

Warning, you might need a bigger table. Had to move from my 6ftx6ft table to a 7ftx7ft. DM and players need their own space, but we love long ranging combat that makes you plan for longer encounters.

Oh Man!! So many great things about this map. In looking at some of their other mats, I thought it might have actually had a texture on the surface. To be sure this is a printed texture on vinyl. As to the comment about wet - erase chalk markers, I have the perfect solution: Perfect Clear Tablecloth. Order one just a little bigger than your mat and you'll be able to game much longer without having to worry about ruining your mat while rubbing it clean. Wet erase chalk markers look so awesome layered on top and don't smear like via a vise. The mat comes rolled in a tube so no worries about creases. I ordered one with a grid (48 x 72) this one. And the moss one without grid (48 x 72). They are both amazing. The moss is a bit darker so my Forest green marker was harder to see. That was easily remedied with some straw yellow markings thrown in. I've also added a bright green. Okay so what about the mat with grid. It's perfectly marked. The lines are strong enough to see but faint enough to not interfere with the action. I'm adding some photos of the two mats side by side. To be sure these mats do have their own glare. But in my photos you'll notice it's a little stronger because of the clear mat on top.

So I buy this for Warhammer, which often requires you to divide the playing field evenly into 1/2, 1/3, and 1/6. Assuming the grid was close enough but upon reviewing the full grid size, the edge of the board is only 3/4" which accounts for 1.5 inches of that 6 and 4 feet to not be used. So the center of my board is directly in the center of a cube. In other words: there is an odd number of squares on the grid with a small border on the mat where there are no squares. My question is why not make the full length the grid OR why not make the borders an actual inch. Not very useful when the width of the board has an uneven number of squares. 45 I counted. Glare is not that bad and the quality and color is great. Just depressed that I need to mark up perfectly symmetrical lines because the boarder was half arsed. Those lines degrade the entire function in my opinion.
