Did anyone actually pay for these? Can anyone who didn't get these for free or a discount say if they work or not? 283 "paid" reviews....

There may be 283 out of the 501 reviews that people have received them at a discount or free, but there are 0 that are paid. I started reviewing products a year ago, when I did research and found some sites that you can get discounts or free products in exchange for your honest opinion. We do not go through the actual company, it is a marketing company (3rd party) who gives us discount codes on products in exchange for testing and reviewing them. If you are interested in doing the same there are many great sites for deals. Search the following: reviewkick, amzreviewtrader and snagshout. They all start with a www and end with dot com. I cannot type any links on Amazon, so forgive me for not providing the direct links. Its a great way to save money, or test new items on the market. I do not always give a good review. I write about my experience with the product and company. I feel that if a company has a good product then of course they will get a good review. By the way, the batteries work great. I received mine about a month ago and I have not had to replace the one I stuck in there yet. Anyways, I am long winded...so I apologize. I hoped this helped you in some way.

Why would you need batteries when the system is rechargeable

good  question !  not sure  what the instructions for the device  says it can use  for  battery power.
the  4LR44  / PX28A / A544  are all  alkaline  and  should not be charged up.

Is the px28a the same as the duracell 28a?

It is the equivalent yes. Just different code. Same size and voltage.

Hi - doesn't say and I cannot clock it, but not as much as more expensive ones. However, my impression is that they are worth getting since the price per unit is much lower than ones lasting longer and you get 10!!
