Very easy to understand. Thank you, Mr. Webber! This book is much appreciated! Review: Very Helpful - I have been a Christian for 64 years. I have been apart of several different denominations. And several churches. As we have moved around this great nation we always seek out a congregation that loves God and studies His word. In the Presbyterian church we heard a solid sermon on the scripture without a political agenda. Always reading and explaining the scripture. I recently had an opportunity to join an Episcopalian church. I am enjoying the liturgical service. The fact that we will read the whole Bible every 3 years . Our priest is excellent at bringing the Word to life. I really appreciate reading this book to learn more the history of what has gotten us this pint

good book for potential Episcopal converts
This is a very good book for someone like me, who was raised Roman Catholic, who wants to learn more about the Episcopal church and may convert to it. It contains a lot of helpful and informative material. I would have given it a 5 star rating based on the contents, but I am going to give it a 4 because the writing style is quite dry. It is very factual, but not fun to read and not very engaging. I appreciate the facts and information though so will give it a 4 based on that.

An informative introduction
This book is replete with information that gives the reader a strong framework upon which to build. It tells you the how's, why's, and what's next. The book is old enough that some of the 'what's next ' has already happened, but this book is not intended as a prognosticator.

Excellent for new Episcopalians!
We converted from another denomination and wanted to understand the background of the Episcopal church, its foundations, practices, positions, and history of beliefs. I found this book most helpful and an interesting read. I even highlighted portions of it for reference later. It provides an excellent overview of the foundation, beliefs and practices. This book was recommended to me by a priest as an "Episcopal 101" reference. I also purchased the Welcome to the Book of Common Prayer and found it very helpful and enlightening. My sister is converting to the faith and I've ordered both of these books for her for Christmas. Would highly recommend both of these books for a new Episcopalian or existing ones who would like a review of their faith.

An excellent introduction to the Episcopal church
This book was recommended to me by the rector of the Episcopal church I have been attending for a couple of years. Being new to this denomination, there were many questions about the faith, history, worship practices, etc. This book has been outstanding in providing answers to the many questions that I had and others that I had not thought of asking. It is well-written and provides an excellent overview without being overwhelming for the reader. The author's style is interesting and informative, providing enough background to enhance understanding while moving through the essential points to open the door to further exploration of the Episcopal church. I thoroughly enjoyed this book.

A balanced, even-toned introduction to the history, beliefs, and organization of the Episcopal Church in the U.S.
This book is, as the title says, an Introduction. In clear language and even tone, it answers "what", "why", "how" and "who" about the U.S. Episcopal Church. The book is well-organized, comprehensive in its coverage while remaining brief, and remarkably free of jargon, and special pleading. It is not an introduction to Christianity itself; the author assumes that the reader, if not a Christian, is at least familiar with core Christian beliefs. I bought the book as a text for the Newcomers' Class at my (new to me) Episcopal Church. It has been both edifying and instructive to read it.

Enjoyable read
This was a great book explaining the history of the church I grew up in, and how it works. The author at no point became dry, he kept my interest and curiosity?
