How do you use this on steak as a precook marinade?

I love Shio Koji and use this brand. Here's a recipe for Japanese Shio Koji steak https://www.alldayieat.com/recipe/japanese-style-steak-with-shio-koji/ I also use it make a fabulous roast chicken. I marinate in Shio Koji then wipe off the excess (it browns beautifully but it can burn).
