Mosquito Control Dunks

Easy to use! Just throw them into areas where water collects or in the bird baths, pools/ponds, etc. & no mosquitos! It's safe for animals, fish, etc., to drink the water from, too. Used to use them in the horse troughs. They do work for a long time, but towards the end of it's time, they might break up &, if in a bath, pool/pond or drinking container where you don't want to see, you may need to use a skimmer to pick up the bits. Nontoxic, so if eaten, no real problem and no mosquitos! I recommend!

I oversee the Taylor Court Community Garden in Willimantic, CT (which we built in 2008) and collect water in large barrels from my house to water the veggies. In the past, I've noticed mosquito larvae in the water and with mosquito borne viruses in the news, didn't want to put me or the others at risk. I used maybe 6 dunks over the course of three months and didn't see any creatures in the water, and it didn't seem to have any ill effect on my plants. And it's my understanding the substances in the dunk aren't toxic to people, which is important if you're watering food plants with the treated rainwater. So, these seem to work well for my purposes.

I use rain barrels to water our plants, this is what I found to control mosquitoes in each barrels, read the instructions, found I only need to use a quarter of a donut per barrel. This year I used old small vitamin bottles with small holes drilled in them and a foam float glued in the cap. This eliminated the sawdust from covering the top of the water and keep it in the barrel and not ending up in the watering cans.

The tablet is easy to break into smaller pieces, seem effective but with too much rain, the effect for controlling mosquitoes wrigglers is less effective. The BT. Ingredient is still effective if applied sooner than a month intervals in the lily and lotus ponds.

Keeps the mosquito population in control. But you have to start early and dose regularly. It doesn't kill adult mosquitos, it kills the larvae. If you already have a large mosquito problem, it will take a while before you see an improvement. Female mosquitos are the ones that bite, and they can live up to 6 weeks. So you want to treat before they hatch, and then regularly afterward.

I saw some larvae in a bit of standing water. I dropped in a dunk, and over the next couple of days, the larvae were gone. I put them in every bit of standing water I can! If you're reading this and wondering...just click "add to cart". Really. This works!

When we remember to use these they significantly reduce the misquito population.

NOTE: if using for pest control on plants this seens to slightly increase the PH to the base side (.5 or less PER gallon) to the base side. It was 6.5-7, after it was 7-7.3) They're bigger than expected. They look like lifesavers in the picture, but easy to use BUT LET IT SIT OVER NIGHT BEFORE ADDING TO PLANTS, it's not a powder it's more like pressed cardboard and plywood mixed together so it needs to resolve whatever is in it. It's kind of hard to collect out of a gallon milk jug. Had to attach a screen to filter out the little pieces (after I broke it up because they're too big to fit into a gallon jug for juice etc). The big chunks were easy to remove because it all floats
