Paul Oakenfold made his name by bringing together some of the best trance sets together with his skills as a DJ. Now he brought something comepletly different and wonderous, with this album called, Bunkka. The first track; Ready, Set, Go! is an intense trance track with throbbing beat and great synths. Track 2, Southern Sun is a melllow pop track with a female vocalist that has a sweet voice. Track 3, Time Of Your Life is alternative sounding progressive style with a male vocalist who sounds soft and mellodic. Track 4, Hypnotised is a another alternative sounding tune with a female vocalists, complimented with a nice beat set and hypnotic quality to the overall sound of this one. Another hypnotic piece in Track 5, Zoo York with a strong baseline and ambient sounds intermixed with winding synths. Track 6, Nixon's Spirit, is ambient with a mix mash of sound bites of political speeches; the weekest and oddest track in this album. Track 7, another strong female vocalist song with a sweet voice and hypnotic beat, really good. Track 8, Starry Eyed Surprise, is very popish and you've probably have heard it in television commercials, it's nice and upbeat. Track 9, Get Em Up, a cool rap song with surprise artist Ice Cube. Track 10, Motion, is a nice mellow alternative type song with a another male vocalist, his voice echoes from a distance, sounds good.The last track, The Harder They Come, weakest of all the tracks because of the annoying lead female singer with the high pitched voice, but the melody is mellow and hypnotic. Overall Bunkka is a sensational album containing a mix of genre styles from trance, breakbeats and alternative mixes. Hardcore fans of Oakenfold's trance might not like this if they expect all trance. You will enjoy this album if you want new, fresh and mixed music styles. The hypnotic quality which is a re-occurring mood set examplified by many of the tracks with excellent male and female vocalist and great synths sounds by this great album. When people ask if I know of any good music, Bunkka always comes to mind first!

... Trance is a great scene, but it's hardly to be considered Oakie's only talent.Where he excels on this album, in my opinion, is in the production skills. He takes a very talented group of vocalists, and tailors each track to his or her way of singing. There's some good progressive trance on here with great vocals, some slow breaks, a bit of hip-hop flavor, and even a hint of the Bristol sound at the end.About the only complaint I have about this album is a warning: the Ice Cube track (which I think is brilliant) is CENSORED! I don't know which version I got a couple months ago as a promo, but it most definitely has the uncensored version of that track. I can't _stand_ the way they destroyed it here, but if the UK version is uncensored, then get it. ...I rate this album 5 stars because for me, every track is incredibly good: well produced, imaginative, and they all make me want to get my groove on. There is something on here for everyone as well, so it will really only bore those who choose to stagnate their listening experience with 24/7 trance. :)

I love this album. Trance at its best.

Good album. Oakenfold has some great music, but a lot of his albums have a few good tracks and a lot of not so good tracks. This one's different. It's a mix of good and really good throughout. Well worth the money. Includes Ready Steady Go which is a great song. It's appeared in a few movies, Collateral and Bourne Identity and few video games. One of those songs where you hear it and think, where did I hear that before?

Extremely old album, but extremely good. One of my favorites by Paul Oakenfold. I love how the opening song is "ready steady go" which will instantly make you feel like racing a mini cooper through the streets of Paris.

The album features two of the best tracks Oakenfold has ever made (Hypnotized and Ready Steady Go). The latter was used as soundtrack for Tom Cruise's "Collateral" movie.This is not to say only two tracks are worthy, on the contrary. If you're an avid techno/trance amateur then this won't let you down.

In 2002, Bunkka became his first official studio album when he signed to Maverick. Bunkka is a compilation of styles which Paul has learned to mix throughout his career; the blending in of progressive trance with goa makes the album different from other conventional dance album. The name Bunkka comes from Peter Gabriel's studio in the UK, where the album was recorded. An extended play was released featuring live versions of four songs under Peoplesound Records. It is also Oakenfold's best selling album to date, with sales largely exceeding 1 million copies worldwide.

My guess is that you must connect to a website to get the 11 songs. Anyway, the CD ENHANCED version which I bought, did not come with the 11 songs. Nor did the seller respond. The "famous" website [...] does not function. The site is CLOSED. So, buyer be aware.

Absolute class.5*****.for me oakenfold is top class.defo reccomended.

Magnifico álbum de Paul Oakenfold, Bunkka es una obra maestra del trance, sin lugar a dudas dentro del top 5 de los mejores álbumes del genero.

Per Zufall über ein YouTube-Fechtvideo auf den Titel gekommen. Allein diese Songauswahl macht aus dem Fechtvideo Fencing Athens 2004 einen optischen Genuss. Das hat mich neugierig auf Paul Oakenfold gemacht, und ich wurde nicht enttäuscht. Sobald man die CD einlegt, steigt automatisch die gute Laune, der Beat geht in die Beine, man muß einfach dancen. Die ruhigeren Songs auf der CD sorgen für eine breites Spektrum und dafür, dass es nie langweilig wird. Die BUNKKA-CD von 2002 ist ein toller Einstieg in die Welt eines niveauvollen Trancepop, der die Bedürfnisse eines Hörästheten absolut erfüllen.Kaufen und - happy dancing!!!

Cet album rappelle quelques bons souvenirs. Je me souviens notamment du générique de l'émission "Les 30 histoires les plus spectaculaires" qui passait le samedi soir sur TF1 avec Jacques Legros, et qui avait pour bande-son "Ready Steady Go", qui pouvait également être entendue dans le très bon film "La mémoire dans la peau" avec Matt Damon.Avec "Bunkka", le DJ de renommée mondiale Paul Oakenfold tranche radicalement avec son style de prédilection, la trance, et explore un champ de genres musicaux assez vastes, mais dont le style dominant reste le breakbeat. D'un morceau à l'autre, on passe chaque fois à un univers différent. Par exemple, "Zoo York" est d'une beauté profonde avec un sample de "Requiem For A Dream" sur un rythme doux tandis que "Starry Eyed Surprise" et "Get 'Em Up" enchaînent respectivement les paroles des rappeurs Shifty Shellshock et Ice-Cube.En bref, un album hétérogène avec une palette d'invités d'horizons différents qui offrent un rendu très réussi. A acquérir pour tout aficionado de musique électronique.

En regardant récemment le film " Collateral" de Michael MANN, je fut capter par cette musique que l'on entend dans la scène de la Discothèque où une fusillade a lieu à l'arrivée de Tom CRUISE.Suite à cela, je me suis risqué à acheter le CD et quelle surprise, l'ensemble des 11 titres est fabuleux et d'une grand diversité, conformément aux commentaires écrits : génial et super agréable à écouter

「コラテラル」を見て買いました。女性ボーカルも入っていますし、「コラテラル」で使われているものを初めとして、非常に良い作りとなっています。他にまだ買おうと思いました。

この曲が、好きな人は持っておくべきかな。流して聴いていると、一曲目のインパクトがすごすぎて、、、、
