Absolutely Phenomenal!
I am a professional voice over artist and these 80-ohm headphones are by-far the best quality & sound I have ever experienced in 45 years of work! The quality of the sound is unmatched and the range from highs to lows is incredible. Music as well as instrumentals as well as vocals are the absolute best you could expect. The noise cancellation is about 97% which is awesome. The build on the headset is wonderful. I had a set of Burl Wood Elites that were as good but very heavy on the head. Those cost in the thousands. This model from Beyerdynamic brings the 2-thousand-dollar quality into an affordable product. The weight is perfect. Not too heavy and not too light. I use mine on average 8 hrs. per day 6x a week, so product weight is a big factor. Trust me, these are easy to use for the entire day! The muffs are so incredibly comfortable due to the velour covers and the actual ear-to-speaker distance (inside the ear cover) ratio. Your ears will not get crushed with these. The cord is plenty long enough for mobility in the studio or simply wound up for desk duty. The dual plug capabilities are very convenient for various equipment needs (amps, compressors, etc.). I give these headphones a true 5* and then some. HIGHLY recommend.

Break-in period?
...If you want to read, I didn't mind writing to you fellow enthusiast's, with something that hopefully helps. (if your experience has been similar to mine, with these 770's)So, I am conflicted with this idea (or should I say, confused) with reading reviews on these 770's (80's) stating they need a period of time to break-in to sound good? Before I get into this experience, it's important to share that I have spent a good and fair amount of time "researching" personal experiences from others regarding these headphones, comparing specs, pro's, con's, application resistance, etc. I have compared to many other brands that all fit in that affordable (but generous price point) between $180 - $300 that offer good sound, durability, comfort and value. Without actually test driving in a store, I relied on the online world hoping for a positive result by choosing the right headset for my desired sound quality and use. My use is mainly home use, listening to prerecorded music of all kinds, from Metal to Jazz on a home stereo receiver, a quite powerful and clean producing harman kardon to be specific. My receiver delivers excellent sound quality (and not lacking in power), with very clean frequency. After being convinced these 770's (with an 80 ohm resistance) was the right medium that may be used with a PC and / or power receiver, I pulled the trigger on a set. Many reviewers compared the same design, closed back headsets, in this price range (without mentioning all the other "compared" brands that do not, did not, seem to measure up to what these 770's deliver) and this headset seems to beat them all. Ok, lets give them a try!?Next important point, I listen loud! I like deep base, clear mids and sharp highs, which with heavy ROCK, all music is prerecorded differently and some bands F*** it up all together.. (Metallica, ST Anger, O...and, and Justice for All, the sub driver destroyer, HA!) ...so, I am understood not any one headset is going to please the ears with every genre..however, I am looking for just a good "all-rounded" quality headset that at least have the capability to reach the frequency's, I will adjust volume and frequency's accordingly, depending on what my playback is. Distortion, obviously, is not acceptable. Finally, delivered, plugged them in to finally hear what "everyone"?? ...has been saying about them...that they are awesome delivering deep base, very clear mids and highs. Ya, I was SOLD on pages of reviews and seems only a few complained (slightly negative experience, which is to be expected with any product, but compared to the others, these 770's have them all beat!) ....so after plugging in, I put just a little bit of power to them, my first reaction was, WTF is this! F****** HORRIBLE sound,...distortion at a super low volume, the bass (for the little that was barely existent "farted out" the mids and highs terribly, even the vocals. This headset delivered crap! Farted out distortion, at LOW volume. (In comparison, I have a set of SONY's (MDR V-150's) that have been through a war! They have been punching, kicking, screaming, dropped, pulled, beer soaked, abused in every way you can abuse a headset for 15 years now and they still sound EPIC compared to these 770's?? I was not giving up, I refused the sound that was being delivered. I tried about 6 different genre's of music, adjusted volume, bass (all frequency's), started checking connections, my source equipment, etc. The sound was complete distortion without even putting any juice to them. Disappointed, to say respectfully. These 770's are absolute garbage, OR...they may perhaps be defected. That was my final diagnosis after checking every sound delivering source component and connection, this headset must be defective. There is NO way, all of those reviewers are wrong.Back online, to research ONLY foul reviews regarding these 770's...and what I found was this, they need a break in period? Some consumers, having the same experience as I have. Some, re-packaging and sent back, to receive another set with the exact same "issue" (fart producing punch with a side of painful all frequency distortion) I am not sold on the break-in idea, that any headset needs to "run" to break-in to produce good sound. The drivers need to loosen up? Seriously? Nope. Sorry, not accepting this BS. I can accept that they are just a S*** headset and will not fill my listening needs, that is more possible than a headset that needs a drive around the block to run on all cylinders.... but, ok, I will surrender my common sense.... lets test this theory. My only option is sending them back so I will give them this break-in "requirement"....just another side note; The only other thought I had was, I am having trouble accepting that a crap product has come from German manufacturing (electronic engineering and production) from Germany has and always was, above many electronic products (among many other different German products) regarding quality, durability, SOUND, etc. German engineering has always been excellent, (my experience) which was just another reason I purchased these 770's, boasting that they are in fact, made in Germany. A close runner to Germany has also been Japan.... but ya, that one fact also contributed selling me on this headset ....anyway, my method of breaking in these 770's.I gave them 48 hours. I plugged in a steady stream of music through my hk receiver, plugged in the 770's. I left them at a forgiving volume (not cranked) ...just at a low listening volume, all day, all night, while I was at work, while I was sleeping, just on for a straight 48 hours (low volume and flat frequency's so I would not over-heat and damage the headset). Every 12 hours, I changed the genre music channel to run different music frequency's and styles, one day even just a "nature" sound stage. ...then finally, a moment of truth!!?? Am I keeping these or sending back with a foul review?Result, astounded! These 770's are a completely different animal now....producing an incredible, clean and low end frequency (NOT disturbing ALL of the other mids and high's any more, at all! I am reaching a volume now that is nearly double what I started out with only a week ago with a decent low end, clean as can be mids and sweet, sharp high's. The vocals are incredibly defined. They are like listening to a 3 way speaker with a separate sub....kind-of what my original expectations were. It's been a hard pill to swallow, that any headset needs a good amount of steady juice run through them before sounding, good, but I have to surrender my common sense has been challenged and defeated, in this regard.Yes, a long story to explain to get to this point, however, from my experience starting off with these, I hope (and felt) this explanation needs to be told and understood in the right context, especially if you have received this headset, had the same disappointment, and decided to return before... doing perhaps just what your 770's need....some run in time to punch out the drivers a little bit, so they can actually "PRODUCE" and deliver a pleasurable sound experience.Give the break in theory a try, before re-packaging and returning. It was, ALL my 770's needed. Now, wow! Just wow!Celebrating my patience and my defeated cynical opinion today!
