Pump review
Thought this was going to be a good product but the third time and now it doesnโt work. Had to get the cheap pump back out and use it. Wouldnโt recommend to anyone.

Burned out, use syphon instead
This pump worked well, but you have to turn it off before the water empties. It says it has protection if the water is gone, but that is not true. I missed babysitting this thing one time and it burned out when the water emptied, and stopped working. After trying another kind of pump that would clog easily, I went back to using the syphon style drain to empty water off of the pool cover. It works great and requires no power. The key is to use a pitcher of water to fill the tube then flop it over the side of the pool and off it goes! Perfect!

Perfect!
Stuck it on the winter cover, connected it to power, left the hose hang over the edge of the pool and simply used the remote to switch on when the water was too deep. Note that a layer of water protects the pool cover against strong winds in the thick of the winter. But when there are leaves rotting, or the temperature rises, you want that water removed. This little pump was able to manage the job in 6"+ water depth, in freezing water, through leaves and their sludge. UPDATE: the little pump has managed two winters, with deep freezing and melting snow. It was left on overnight on accident and while it did pull in the cover, it did not put a hole in it and did not break from running dry. This spring, we had to drain the pool when we opened (longer story). We used this pump to do so and it worked like a champ, making a short work of the 4000 gallons it had to evacuate. The switch allowed us to get the last drop (automatic ones leave 2" of water.) The blue shield has fadedafter sitting in leaf tea for months, but it still runs like a champ and the shield has remained solid. If it ever becomes available again, get it!

Convenient
Works great with the remote connect your hose and hit the button and walk away it removes water pretty quick so check it every so often. And this is more affordable than a pool store and itโs delivered right to your door.

Works like a charm
This pump has served us perfectly for 4 years. We do not overwinter our pool with a cover; instead, when the water needs to be lowered to keep it 2" from the bottom of the pool tile, we place the pump on paving stones stacked on one of the steps so that only the lower portion of the pump in submerged in the water. Then we manually turn it on and let it do its thing. It takes approximately 3 hours to lower the water in our 30,000 gallon (large) inground pool by 1.5"-2". Works every time and is so much cheaper than paying $180 for the pool company to perform a "winter checkup."

2 pumps failed
Pump failed within 4 days. Second pump failed on first day used. Hoped it would work -- but 2 units failed.

Was great the one time it/they worked - x2
Got this pump early in March, tried to use it but it would never turn on (light on cord would come on but no pumping action). It was within the 30 day window and the customer service dept sent me another out immediately. Used the pump one time and it worked great. Made quick work on the rain water on the pool cover. Rained again, turned the pump on.... and nothing happened. Switch light on cord was on again, but no power to the pump. As it was outside the 30 day return window this time, I was happy I purchased to warranty plan. They are refunding my purchase price, so I have to find a better pump now. Loved my Rule pumps but they're so expensive and the last 2 I had didn't even last more than 2 seasons each.
