Here is a fantastic product that is a small, pocket magnifier which has a light build into it. It is small for the pocket, but very large for all the things it can magnify in the course of a day. It folds into itself and it can either be used just to see an object with natural lighting, or it can be pull out completely from its housing and a small light will turn on for help in darker areas to see the object. Great for coins, old stamps, roads on a map, text in a book, and small print on a product label. Another great product found at Amazon.com

This magnifying glass is a small square one that is enclosed in it's own carrying case so that when not needed you just slide it back up inside of the holder. The light only comes on when it's opened and goes off when it's slide back up inside of the protective attached case. It is very lightweight and easy to carry around, I just throw mine in my purse and use it when I need to. No one needs to know I have it unless I want them to. I highly recommend it for seniors who need that extra help as our eye's start to go on us. It can magnify enough for you to ready what's on a penny if you need an idea of the capability of this device.

Overall, this small lighted magnifier is not bad, although I can foresee problems with the battery compartment which may ultimately cause this magnifier to fail completely. The magnifying glass is nice and clear, and free from distortions. The light provides a nice bright white light when the case if fully open. These two features alone make it worth the price here on amazon prime. The case itself is made of a very thin plastic and one needs to be careful when opening and closing the unit, otherwise damage will occur. Still, it is small enough to fit in a purse or a pocket--being not too bulky but, just the right size. Unfortunately, I do have a few concerns. Like other reviewers here have pointed out, the battery cover is made of extremely thin plastic and one needs to be careful when opening or closing it, otherwise it will crack. The primary concern though is the fact that fitting the three AAA batteries into their respective slots is freightingly difficult. I cannot imagine how difficult it will be to remove them--yikes! And once the batteries are securely in their slots, the thin plastic battery cover fits on so tightly that it has a slight "bulge" to it. This slight bulge makes sliding the outer cover (which exposes the lens and light) over the battery case cover difficult. It is for these reasons that I am concerned about how long this magnifier will last. Despite the aforementioned concerns, considering the price, I am still pleased with my purchase and would recommend it. In fact, now that I own the 3X powered one, I have ordered the 5X one as well.

A whole lot of us “OLDER GENERATION “ have a hard time reading the small print that seems to be on EVERYTHING. Can not even begin to tell you how many time I’ve used this handy little device and easy to slip in pocket or purse. My highest recommendation

Works very well on flat items which have a matte surface. That's pretty much where the 'pros' end from my use of the Minibrite. With LED on, of little use with anything with a very glossy surface as the light causes glare thereby preventing seeing what's being magnified (while trying to look around the flare). If LED is off, but using overhead light source, light reflects on magnifier lens which is annoying. If LED is off, and using light source angled off to one side, much of what's being viewed is in the shadow created by the magnifier. The very compact size is admittedly handy, but the real estate of the lens viewing area is small, to begin with, therefore anything which takes away from seeing everything, and clearly, is a detriment. New to using magnifier so found it to have bit of learning curve. The balance of attempting to obtain the right amount of light, achieving best viewing distance and angle of lens to keep object in focus while, at the same time, moving hand with magnifier ...and turning object if not flat. Product suffices for reading a few words, or for zeroing in on very small details for a few seconds, but too small and ineffective for anything beyond that.

The magnifier is the perfect balance of price, size, and usability. The 3x magnification is excellent for older eyes or reading fine print. I also have a 5x vision, but I prefer the 3x, as it allows a greater field of view and is more forgiving when trying to focus. The light is bright but not blinding, and kudos to the designers for using longer-lasting 3x AAA batteries instead of the weaker (and typically harder to replace) "button batteries" that many similar designs use. It fits easily into my front pants pocket and is unobtrusive for those times when you need some visual help but don't want to scream to the rest of the restaurant that you have difficulty seeing small type.
