how long do batteries last? can you use rechargeable energizer batteries? AA or AAA batteries

I’ve found new batteries last longer than the rechargeable ones. The rechargeables only lasted 4 hrs vs 10-20hrs on Amazon or Duracell batteries. Though dollar store batteries only go 4 hrs. Lol

can it be used in water?

Hi Fred,Only the coil is waterproof. If you get the electronics wet then it's shot.This happened to me one time and Garrett gave me a good deal on a replacement 250.You can search their website for the waterproof model but it's quite expensive.Bob P

will it tell me what kind of metal it is?
