The Book of Stones: Who They Are and What They Teach

While no book has every stone, this book covers both the most well-known and many more rare stones. It covers several stones that I haven’t found in any other book. The information includes physical characteristics, history, origin, and spiritual/ chakra benefits. Every stone includes a bright and crisp photo for reference. The appendix is split into two sections, one for physical and another for spiritual information. The authors also include guides for stone combinations/recipes and meditation. The font is easy to read. The pages are semigloss for bright crisp images. This is a must have for stone/ crystal collectors.

This is a detailed and comprehensive paperback book of stone and gems that give cultural meanings behind them and their uses in jewelry and other ornamentation. A gem merchant in India shared it with me and I ordered the revised version once back in the states.

I have been buying a variety of beads to create bracelets for my business. Additionally, I have been studying different types of beads and purchasing books because I want to understand which stones and crystals are beneficial for the body, mind, and soul. I particularly enjoy this book because it is filled with colorful pictures. It teaches me about the origins of various stones and crystals, as well as their properties. This book is so engaging that you’ll never want to leave it unattended on a table; the more you read, the more you fall in love with the information about crystals. One thing I wish the book included is a section on how beads are dyed in Asian factories. Still, overall, it is an excellent resource. Very thorough, with hundreds of stones and crystals. Color photos of each stone are included as well as their molecular structure. Spiritual, emotional and physical manifestations are written with specific information for use of crystals. I love the beauty of crystals and this book includes any kind of stone or crystal that I will come across. A fantastic book!

This is my go to book for diving into my crystal collection. I appreciate the two different perspectives with each stone entry. I enjoy learning about some more scientific attributes as well as metaphysical and spiritual. This is 100% a reference book and not for someone about the general practice. I highly recommend this book to anyone who collects for fun or for spiritual reasons!

This is just what I was looking for. I have a good field guide that was given to me. But I was looking for a book that had spiritual information about the crystals. This book had it. It talks about the crystals geologically, but it also has spiritual information. It is all in one heavy book. The book itself is well made. They use heavy stock of semi gloss paper. The photos are sharp. I read about it online. It came well recommended. I am glad I got it. I keep it in the plastic envelope that Amazon sent it in. I've got three cats so have to protect the book.

I've had this book before and loved it. There's a lot of useful scientific information in here but there's also some information on the metaphysical properties. That's not really my thing but I'm always interested to learn.

I highly recommend this book! I think I own--or have read--almost every crystal book and this is my favorite as far as a "crystal healing" book goes. Wonderful descriptions and photos. If you want a smaller book to carry with you, there is also a pocket version by the same author!

I’ve had this as an ebook and it’s wonderful. I decided to get a hard copy as well. I love the writing and the fact that two authors offer their perspectives on each stone. Wonderful!

This book is a mine of treasures! I 'work' a lot with stones and this book offers the 'physical' and spiritual properties of all of them. I find it extremely informative on all levels.

I was expecting a nice book with full of insights, grounding the metaphysical or "spiritual" properties of crystals to their physical structure, formation and historical use. I was disappointed to see that it's mostly generic text, not too far from daily horoscopes, and the insights I was looking for make up a very little portion of each description. On the positive side: the pictures are nice, and it's quite extensive in terms of the number of crystals, I could find everything I was looking for.

I appreciate how the "wu wu" topic of crystals is handled with clear, informative language - no word salad or exclusivity.
