Invisible Places

I eagerly awaited the release of this cd. The first two are simply great ear candy if you like 70's prog rock. This new release Invisible Places follows the same theme as it previous cds, but more like Styx "Grand Illusion." Up front: Presto Ballet is definitely not a copy of Styx, but you can certainly hear the influences of that style.The whole cd has some great guitar work, the keyboards are magical. I was a bit concerned that the new singer Ronnie Monroe may not be able to fill the vox's of the previous singer, but honestly, I think he brought a freshness to this project; especially in the song Sundancer.If you remember Kurdt from his Metal Church years, don't expect anything like that. This is a project of his I wish would get noticed. They did some tour dates with Dream Theater, but they deserve much more success.I give this one 5 stars all the way. Presto Ballet is a musical journey with every cd they have released.

Really great old school prog done RIGHT!! I've had Peace Among The Ruins and The Lost Art Of Time Travel for about 5 years each now (or since they came out) and have been enjoying them a lot. I've definitely got my money's worth with those 2 releases. I just bought this, started playing it and, MAN, did it ever put a serious smile on my face to hear these guys play. I can say that the instrument sounds of this release are more diverse. The songwriting is way solid, and the interplay is just great. Lots of influences that these guys wear proudly, but that's alright. I really dig Dream Theater, Subsignal, Transatlantic, Pain Of Salvation, Yes, and a few others (tried to get into Flower Kings and have a couple of things but their theatric weirdness just....weirds me out). These guys sound nothing like any of those bands (closest one they sound like is Transatlantic) and that's okay. Presto Ballet have their own sound and identity and I like this release much more than the others that I have and that's saying a lot. These guys are getting better and better with each new thing, and I can't wait to hear more from them. Thanks, PB, for making incredible music!!!

The tones of the guitars and synthesizers sound like a cross between Rush and Styx, while the singer sounds a bit like the guy from Deep Purple. The music is progressive rock (not metal). It is reminiscent of 1970/80's style progressive rock without sounding like it is ripping it off.
