Godox GM55 4K HDMI Camera Video Monitor, 5.5 Inches On-camera DSLR Field Monitor, 1920x1080 IPS Video Peaking Focus Assist with 3D Luts

I got this monitor for my B-roll camera and I am really happy with it. I was worried about how effective it would be outside as some other monitors on Amazon are listed as being considerably brighter but the integral hood more than compensates. The hood is excellent and I wish my other monitor had one like this. At the time of writing the product description mentions included USB cables but the included cables are a micro HDMI to HDMI and a mini HDMI to HDMI. Another reviewer suggested the DC socket is too close to the mount but they must have moved it because the socket placement is good. The features that I like the most are the ability to upload LUTs and the on screen waveform. The stereo audio level indicator is really well designed and takes up minimal screen space. The fact that this monitor is really lightweight means it doesn't really affect the balance on my pan ant tilt head. It doesn't put much strain on the camera's hot shoe mount either. Overall it's a great bit of kit and well worth the price.

Good product for the price. Have not dove into screen settings yet, there are quite a few to choose from. HDMI cable unfortunately broke within the camera as I was filming a gig. Lost some footage as a result but I guess that can happen to anyone. I didn't expect it to break soon after purchase though. For that I must leave a 4 star.

Nice to have in dark landscape situations, sometimes the Live View on the built-in screen just isn't practical. However, the control cable for Nikon D750 is not obtainable. So controlling this camera from this monitor is not possible.

I purchased to work on Sony A6400. Although Godox say it works with Sony it doesn’t mention A6400 and Godox won’t say which cable if any supports camera control. I had to return as the S1 cable didn’t work.

Solid build, well made and great image produced from this video monitor

Excellent at first glance, but I’ve had to order some different DC cables because the mount is a bit too close to the DC input — especially if you want to use a SmallRig mount with it for its anti-twist pin — of course, the monitor has holes for anti-twist pins, but the supplied mount doesn’t have any pins 🙃 shopping for camera rig stuff can be a minefield of caveats!

I have been looking for a B cam screen/backup to my ninja for some time now, I was very excited to learn about godox's GM55 release, as I'm a really big fan of their other products, and prices. So I went ahead and bought it, I was not disappointed. A well built, albeit plastic body, with a wonderfully detailed 4k glass screen, with touchscreen. It also has a multi-wheel and buttons, so if you are wearing gloves or have wet hands, you can still control the screen, unlike my ninja which doesn't have any additional controls than the touchscreen. The built-in feature, like zebras, peaking and false colours, plus many, many more, are super useful and a given now on any screen really these days, what sets the godox apart is the fact they can all me customized, peaking colour and intensity, false colours, crosshair size and colours, boundaries etc, all can be optimised for your eyes and needs. 3 x locating mounts is also really great, the 4k pass through, the 3,5 jack for external audio monitoring really easily, the included swivel mount, the obligatory Godox cleaning cloth is also included. Overall, I'm very happy with it, for the money there is simply not a better monitor available.

I put this monitor to use on my Panasonic DVX200. I was able to quickly get my shots set up and my recording rolling quickly with an external monitor. A great upgrade to the built-in monitor on my DVX200. I liked you can see color space, audio levels, waveforms, and zoom in to check focus. A great upgrade to the little monitor on my camcorder. Mounts on 3 sides of the unit gave me the flexibility as to where I would position the monitor for the best mount and viewing. I did not try any of the camera control functions but look forward to testing them in the future. I use Sony NP-type batteries but they get heavy and don't last as long as a dummy battery would... So in the future, I want to rig my unit with VMount power and then use that to power the camera and the GODOX monitor. One power source for everything will make for a clean setup. LUT support, touch screen and HDMI out makes this monitor a great value. The box includes HDMI cables (I did need to add my own full-size HDMI to HDMI) to complete my rig. A mount, sun shield, and cleaning cloth round out all the goodies this monitor comes with. 5star rating for indoor use, but a 4-star rating for mid-day sun (could be a touch brighter for full hard sun - but add the sun-shield for improved usage.)

Good lightweight affordable product for indoors photography/ videography. Screen brightness is low for bright sunlight outdoor photography. Unable to get camera control cable to attach it to my sony camera. So don't buy it because you won't be able to use all features.

Den Monitor habe ich gekauft, weil ich für manche Situationen einen größeren Monitor benötige, als der integrierte Kameramonitor. Dazu ist der Godox GM55 hervorragend geeignet. Der Lieferumfang ist vollständig mit Sonnenblende, Montagesockel für einen Blitzschuh und HDMI Kabeln (Standard und Micro HDMI. Die Sonnenblende kann übrigens zusammengeklappt als Displayschutz permanent montiert bleiben - ein Feature, das ich mir bei meinem Atomos Ninja V (für ein Mehrfaches des Preises des Godox) wünschen würde. Man benötigt noch einen NPF Akku und kann direkt loslegen. Das Menü ist übersichtlich und in der Bedienung sehr logisch. Der Monitor ist aus Kunststoff gefertigt, was in dieser Preisregion üblich ist, macht aber eine stabilen Eindruck. Meinerseits rundum eine Kaufempfehlung.
