GeilSpace 6 Pack 1/2" × 20" Pre-Cut Black Metal Pipe, Industrial Steel Fits Standard Half Inch Black Threaded Pipes and Fittings - Vintage DIY Industrial Shelving (1/2" × 20")

Ok, so this is a short term review. Just received these 36” 1/2 inch threaded pipes and I used them immediately for a home project. They are threaded well, sturdy for craft type jobs, or light duty home improvement projects. I bought some connections to connect three sections of the 36” pipe for a long curtain rod going across a garage door. It worked, slight sag due to the rod (3 pieces) being over 100+ inches, but no fault of this product. Pipes seem to be manufactured well, not plumbing grade material, but strong enough for projects at home, etc. So far they have held up well for my project!

Product was as advertised. The work great for making shelves or end tables. I built an end table for my office out of the pipe. I have ordered black pipe before and what I really like about this product is the threaded section is shorter and so it makes for a more uniform length when you add on the elbows and T connectors, etc. It also means that less of the thread is showing after you complete the project. Given the product is for shelving and furniture (at least what I ordered) it is lighter (still very strong and sturdy....it is not cheap) and easier to work with. One big benefit is it is PRE PAINTED black. If you like that color you don't have to do any painting. other black pipe needs to be cleaned off, lightly sanded and spray painted which adds A LOT of time. For this project, the black color was perfect and no additional painting was necessary. Great products.

These are great threaded pipes and perfect for my project. I am using them to build a sleeping platform for the back of my Jeep Wrangler. They easily screw into pipe flanges I got for it. The color is also ideal so it blends in.

Meh, this is light and thin compared to black iron. I think the manufacturer stated there is difference but failed to highlight the substantial divide. I would look at the weight to provide a hint. These are NOT suitable for a family dining table unless you are only eating salad. Other than that……they well painted and exactly the length identified. I would say they could function as small lightweight shelves. I will keep them but not for the application I wanted them for.

Originally I had bought these same size pipes at Home Depot and I bought half the amount for double the price! After looking on Amazon, I returned them and bought them here instead. I am so happy with my purchase, as I got MORE FOR MY MONEY, they are made of QUALITY MATERIAL, they are CLEAN (unlike the ones at Home Depot that turned my hands black), they are SMOOTH, and they are STURDY. I used them for a home project and love the results. I will definitely be buying from them again in the future.

This is NOT standard 1/2" black piping. Anyone in plumbing would attest that this is not the same as the schedule 40, NPS 1/2" black steel pipe that you use for gas lines. The title "Black Metal Pipe, Industrial Steel Fits Standard Half Inch Black Threaded Pipes and Fittings" is really misleading.As noted by others, the pipe outer diameter is not 0.84 inches (standard for schedule 40 black 1/2" pipe). Also, the wall thickness is probably 1/32" or less. Schedule 40 black pipe has a thickness of around 0.1", and is about twice as heavy as this.If you're looking for pipe for pipe clamps, like the popular Bessey ones shown, this will NOT work, as the outside diameter is too small, as noted by others. There seem to be some pipe clamps for 1/2" pipe that work, but definitely NOT Bessey clamps--arguably one of the most popular and well-made brands.These appear to be made exclusively for cosmetic purposes, i.e. making DIY industrial-looking furniture and fixtures around the home. Even for that purpose, I'd go to the Home Depot and have them cut you some real 1/2" black pipe. For $27 you get 10 feet, and they'll cut it down to section lengths and thread the pipe for free at many stores. This stuff seems like it will bend easily as it's at least half as thick as the real stuff.

I had thought I was ordering from “HOME TZH”, but ordered these by mistake. They are not made of iron. They, evidently are manufactured only for looks and not for any strength.They do seem to be well made and are pretty to look at, but I’d be afraid to trust their strength.

I'm using these as a support from a basement joint. Wanted something closer to real pipe without having to thread myself. They are doing the job thus far and they are held up by a cast iron piece. No flex or bends and are doing the job. Not the typical decorative use, but I will also probably use the other ones in the set for a curtain rod, or part of one, once I paint it. Sturdy enough to support the weight.

Great for making entertainment units, coffee table etc. Will last lifetimes and you can change the wood you use 2. I used 6 and 8 inch ones
