I've been really happy with this set of one base station and two parent units. You get three AC adapters, one for the base (which cannot use batteries) and one for each parent unit. The sound is very clear, and there's no static thanks to it using a 6.0ghz DECT digital signal. The units will alert you if they lose connection with the base station so that you know you can't hear your baby. Very simple no-frills operation. That being said there are a couple of downsides: 1. The form factor is awful. The parent units being shaped like an egg, tip over very easily especially if they have the cord plugged into them. 2. The parent units each use two AAA batteries. When reading other reviews, I saw others complaining that they drain batteries very fast when unplugged. This is an under statement. It seems like 2-3 hours off the charger and the low battery light starts flashing and the unit beeps. I'm using 800mah Ni-MH rechargable batteries that I bought for these units. If I were using disposable batteries, I would be really upset with how fast they were being drained. But being prepared for this and having rechargeable its not a huge problem (just having to swap daily). The high frequency digital signal is nice because it would be extremely difficult if not impossible for someone to eavesdrop on the units with any type of consumer equipment, unlike the old analog monitors where you could tap in easily with a scanner. All in all a good unit, if you can overlook the terrible battery life and crappy form factor. I might try to order extra ac adapters for the spots that I move to around the house so I can rely on batteries less.

This is really an excellent product, and at such an affordable price! In fact, these are the best baby monitors we've ever owned. We are on our third child, and our other set of monitors (an AngelCare set that did both audio and monitored baby's movement in the crib) were either lost or thrown away. So we bought these when our third child was born, and these are the things that are good: Pros: 1. This monitor uses DECT 6.0. This is newer tech, and is the same technology as that in the best cordless phones. We got our first DECT 6.0 cordless phone last year, and I was very excited to find it in monitors now. Here are the reasons DECT 6.0 is great: A) Security built in, so only you hear your baby. B) Multiple communication streams from DECT 6.0 devices can be accommodated, so your monitors don't interfere with other DECT 6.0 devices like cordless phones. I've had no interoperability issues with my cordless phone and my monitors. C) DECT 6.0 has been around a while in Europe and other places, but it took a long time to get approval for dedicated radio frequency spectrum here in the US. Now that the FCC has approved it, though, it is the best tech for this sort of application. Why? Other monitors use frequencies like 900 Mhz or 2.4 GHz, which are crowded with other devices like wifi, microwaves, cordless phones and other monitors. DECT 6.0 has been given the 1.9 Ghz spectrum, and nothing else but DECT 6.0 devices are allowed to use it. Interference from 802.11 b/g/n wifi, or microwave ovens? Impossible, because those use the 2.4 Ghz frequency. Interference from 802.11 a/n/ac wifi? Impossible again, because those technologies use the 5 Ghz spectrum. Old cordless phone technology? Impossible, because they typically use the 900 Mhz or 2.4 Ghz frequencies. Anyone that tells you that wifi or microwaves can interfere with these is thinking about older monitors that used to use 2.4 Ghz... it can't happen here. Because they have their own 1.9 Ghz frequency range, these will not interfere with anything, including other DECT 6.0 devices, since DECT 6.0 allows for multiple communication streams by design. 2. Another thing that is great about these is the crystal clear audio. It is extremely easy to make out what is going on in the other room. 3. Noise cancelling is another great feature here that has made its way over from cordless phones and cell phones. Noise cancelling microphones only activate if they detect noise above a certain threshold... otherwise they are quiet. Bathroom fans, air conditioner hums, etc, do not get transmitted by these. They only activate and transmit baby crying or fussing, otherwise they transmit pure silence. Note: There may be times baby moves or makes small noises and they don't get transmitted because they aren't above the threshold. In my experience of using this for several weeks, I've never had a situation where baby actually started getting agitated and it didn't get picked up. If baby moves his arm or sighs, you might not hear it, but do you really want to be woken up by that anyway? Personally, I only want to be woken up if he actually needs me, and I've found I always hear his louder awakening noises/movements/fussings, usually several minutes before he works his way up to actually issuing a cry. 4. Lack of static - these have no static whatsoever (typical for DECT 6.0). They are dead silent unless baby is crying. No static, no background noise, nothing. You can sleep with these next to you, and they will not make the slightest sound to keep you awake or wake you up, unless baby is crying or stirring, which is easily heard. 5. These have nice indicator lights, so if you mute them you can still see visually if baby is crying. However, I really don't ever mute them because unless baby is getting pretty agitated, they don't transmit any noise at all. 6. I haven't tested using batteries, but each parent unit takes two standard AAA batteries, so they are easy to obtain and replace. 7. Value - A base unit and AC adapter, plus two parent units with AC adapters, built in belt clips and a very good range (they've worked everywhere in our 1480 sq ft house, and I'm sure they'd work outside too if we took them out there). Cons - None that I can think of. Having used multiple different models/brands of monitors for our other kids at our house and grandma's house, I can say these are not only the best performing, but the most affordable monitors I've ever used. If you are looking for a basic audio monitor with no extra features like two way voice, movement monitor, or video camera, then these are the best.

This is one of the worst products ever. I tried connecting it only today as I was not at home and as soon as I plugged it in, there was a short burst and smoke started coming out of the adapter. And since I am a day late, I'm unable to return it.
