Your ad says 1000mcg of mf.  i order and my bottle says 1667 mcg of which 1000mcg is mf.  what is the form of the rest?

The NOW Methyl Folate contains a trademark branded and patented raw material called Quatrefolic.  It is a reduced and methylated form of Methyl Folate, that ensures higher level of absorption of methyl folate by the body, as it bypasses the gastric barrier and is absorbed mainly in the small intestine.  The Quatrefolic is a patented molecule that combines methyl folate with glucosamine and other methylation factors such as B6 and B12.  So to answer your question the other 667 mcg consist of factors such as glucosamine and B6 and B12 bound to the methyl folate in order to not only improve its absorption but to reduce the accumulation of unmetabolized folic acid in the body (which the body cannot use). No, these are small mini-tablets, so swallowing shouldn’t be a problem. If you’re concerned about the amount per pill, there is no toxicity for foliate; only a possibility of masking B-12 deficiency anemia symptoms, which we caution about on the product label. If you want a lower amount, you can use a tablet cutter or take every other day; but there is no known health risk of taking this amount, other than the potential B-12 issue.
