Don't go buy the price. It's way cheaper in the long run. The quality is amazing. Using it since 3 months and loving it. It's soft but still firmer than those very soft cups, making it easy to open. The stem is soft and comfortable. I faced a little problems cleaning the holes but other than that it's an amazing product.

I just finished my first cycle using this Lunette cup and thought it'd be a good time to post a review. Overall Experience: On the day I knew my period was coming, I was able to put the cup in and leave in all day just in case! It was great not having to worry about it or checking all the time to see if it was time to put a tampon in. On the second day, when it had actually started flowing, I wore the cup for about 6-7 hours and it worked great! No leaks at all! I was like WOW, do I already have this down? (I read A LOT of reviews and most said there is a learning curve, which I do agree with, but I was surprised at how easily I got it!) On the third day, which is probably my heaviest, I wore the cup for about 9 hours and it didn't leak once again! I was still so surprised. On the fourth day, this is when it all changed. This day is heavy too and a few hours after putting it in, it didn't feel quite right down there so I checked it out and it leaked! Yes leaked! I was freaked out because I was at work and there was blood everywhere (sorry, TMI). Since I was freaked out I wasn't able to reinsert it so for the time being I had to put a tampon in (which I hated doing, I could already tell the difference and I hated it!) On the last day, I was determined to make it work again since it worked so well in the beginning... And it did! I wore it for 11 hours with no leaks at all. Woohoo! Insertion/Removal: So far I have found the recommended "C" fold to work best for me even though it is a little wide (I am not a virgin so that may help). It pops open really easy! Plus I don't feel it at all, it's SO much more comfortable than a tampon. I ran 2 times while the cup was in and it worked great still but it did work itself up pretty far and at first I freaked out but did the "bearing down" technique and it wiggled down. To remove it I just always pinch the bottom and wiggle it and then take it out. So I never had a problem removing it or it getting stuck. I also never found it too terribly messy. Seal/Position: So the key is to get it in the correct position and to make sure it is "sealed". I am pretty sure the day it leaked I accidentally inserted it too far up and it wasn't sealed all the way. So it should sit LOW! I still have the stem on mine (doesn't bother me!) and it does stick out a little or you can feel it right inside. It is hard to turn it completely to seal it, I just tend to wiggle it up and down and make sure it's open (sometimes it feels flat to me but still works!) and then I tug on the stem and if it doesn't budge then it's sealed! I recommend wearing a liner at first just in case (that's what I did) and eventually once I get the technique down 100% I will stop wearing a liner. I still give this cup a 5 star rating even though I did have that bad leaking experience because overall it was so great! I will never go back to tampons!

Ladies, I really recommend this product. But....there are some things you should know, please allow me to explain and then you can make a well informed choice.... So, it arrived (a day earlier than expected, thank you Amazon) and actually right on time for TOM. I'm not ashamed to say I was pretty excited about trying it out, I'd been psyching myself up to it for a while now, really inspired by the environmental credentials and of course the long term cost save. It comes with a little instruction manual (read it. No, really), and it's own fabric carry case which is a nice touch. I bought the model 1 which is apparently smaller and softer than the model 2. The first instruction is to sterilise it by boiling it for 20 minutes. Childish me found it kind of amusing to see a "feminine hygiene product" bubbling away in the pan next to my spuds and carrots. Not the same pan, what do you take me for!? My mom invented the second instruction that isn't in the manual "best let it cool down first or you won't be laughing!" common sense, sure, but it's a fair point! So, all sterilised it's time for its maiden voyage. I struggle with even the smallest of tampons, so I wasn't expecting this to be easy. Plus the ladies on YouTube videos (there are a LOT) all say this takes practice, so not to expect perfection the first time you try. There are a few options for how to fold it to make it easier to insert, I went for the C fold. It isn't actually that easy to hold in that shape as the cup wants to naturally spring open (spoiler alert, you want it to do that!) but actually it was way easier to pop on in than I expected. I had to sit on the bathroom floor the first time, but it was in, and not uncomfortable at all. I strut out of the bathroom, feeling like champ, I have nailed it. Seems I have the knack of sticking things up my....wait, don't comment. Throughout the day, no leaks, no discomfort, no pressure on my bladder making me pee like a racehorse with a UTI. I'm loving it. I've told my mom, my best friend, and my sister, like I'm a pioneer in periods. This. Is. A. Game. Changer. But before you rush out and buy one girlies, it wasn't total perfection. So 12 hours later (yes, 12. I had forgotten I was even on my period) I have to remove it. It has a little stem on the end to aid this process, the instructions are to gently grab the stem until you can hold the bottom of the cup, release the vacuum, pull it out, empty the contents, easy as pie, right? Wrong! I go to grab the stem, when I put it in the stem was flush with the "opening", but now it was nowhere to be found. My new found period pal had gone for a wander up there. 2-4 inches the average vaginal canal, really huh, well I was all up in there and I couldn't even touch it! Trying desperately to relax I started to wonder what else I might find in there, my spare car keys, that fiver I lost last week...maybe even the radiator bleed key? Eventually I touched the stem to my great relief. Getting much purchase on it was difficult, but finally I could reach the base of the cup. I tried to release the vacuum by squeezing it back into the C fold as instructed, but to no avail. I daren't let go at this point lest it be sucked back into the anatomical version of Mary Poppins' handbag. I had no choice but to pull against the vacuum, and let me tell you Mr Dyson, I can teach you a few things about suction! I was genuinely worried it might suck out my whole womb! I can only assume this product was designed by one of those Thai ladies in the dubious bars who shoot ping pong balls out of their hoohahs, because the only way to remove this thing is to PUSH! So with one hand clenching the loo roll holder and the theme tune from Call The Midwife echoing through my mind, I finally give birth....congratulations, it's a rubber egg cup!! So, in short, I do love this thing. It's a true revolution in period care. No more discomfort from tampons, no more rashes from pads (girl, I'm 31, I'm too old for nappy rash), no more odours, no more toxins and waste and needing to go and change every couple of hours. I'm all for it, and I'm not giving up. But I do not love the mini labour twice a day! The things I do for Pingu and the polar bears..... Good luck ladies!

People are not lying when they say that this product is life changing! My flow is very inconsistent, some days are really heavy and some are super light and there's just no way for me to predict when that will be so I would sometimes remove a tampon after several hours that was nowhere near saturated, that would irritate the tissues and feel very uncomfortable. I also would often feel tampons while wearing them and hated it. I also can't stand pads because they feel like a hot, sweaty sauna down there. So I thought I was stuck with tampons and the uncomfortable threat of TSS hanging over my head. Thankfully one day I decided to ask Google if there were other options and lo-and-behold I discovered the menstrual cup. I only wish I had known about it sooner!!! After quite a bit of research and review reading I decided on the lunette because it seemed somewhat narrower and easier to clean. It has been pretty awesome. People talk about the learning curve and it's true one exists, but it really only took me a couple tries to get the hang of it, not several months. The design is great and learning different folds for insertion really helps. The fold they tell you to use on the box isn't the best for everyone. The one that works best for me is the Origami fold. Some people talk about using it in public restrooms as a problem, but I just bought a small squirt bottle to keep (empty) in my purse that I fill up with water before I enter the stall and can use that to rinse it before putting it back in. I also keep a small pouch of disposable wet-wipes in my purse to clean off my fingers and dispose of those in the tampon box in the stall. Easy peasy, and the wipes and bottle take up less room in my purse than the tampons and pantiliners that I used to carry around with me all the time! Over the long run these are so much cheaper, easier and more user friendly, not to mention earth friendly, than other options. I seriously wish everyone knew about them haha I know they might not be the best option for everyone, but I feel like a lot more people would use them if they knew they existed! If you're having doubts I would just go for it, I haven't regretted leaving tampons and pads behind one bit!! **One side note** I did a "dry run" I.E. I put it in before my period to try and get a feel for it. (You're vaginal canal and uterus are shaped slightly differently when you're on your period so dry run is not all that helpful, though it went in just fine) I didn't put it in necessarily correctly and the cup migrated upward and got pretty well suctioned to my cervix. I couldn't feel any discomfort, but when I tried to remove it it was much farther up and breaking the suction seal was slightly uncomfortable and I could only grab the bare end of the little handle, which was slippery so I couldn't pull. BUT you don't need to go to a doctor if this happens! IT WILL COME OUT. Relax, breathe, get in a nice bath and bear down as if you're trying to have a bowel movement. The muscles will begin to push the cup downward then you can SLOWLY wiggle it downward until it comes out. If this happens to you you're best option is to remain calm. If you panic your muscles tense up around it and it gets stuck even worse. Trust me, you'll be just fine and the cup is STILL better than tampons.

Now this may be a premature, and TMI review but when you're looking at a menstrual cup I'm assuming that you're okay with a bit of gross talk. This finally came in the post this morning, and after reading alot of advice that essentially said 'practice makes perfect' I decided I should do a dry run to hasten my getting used to it. Obviously I was aware that my being not on my period could affect the process, so to compensate I used a bit of water and tried decreasing the amount of friction through... Well, stimulation, if you get what I'm saying. (I went for a book, but hey that's me being a geek - and no it wasn't fifty shades of grey) I used an origami fold and it went in perfectly fine (I bought the size 1 - perfect for virgins and women who haven't given birth apparently, by the way I fulfill both of these criteria), I couldn't feel it even when sitting down and walking around, but during the first ten minutes I was very aware that I had something in me. After that, nada, I didn't feel a thing. I read that the stem sometimes makes it uncomfortable, but maybe it's something to do with my having a higher cervix but I had no discomfort from it at all. (Although ladies if you do have a high cervix, aparrently the diva cup works wonders - not so much with people with lower ones) Lunette is one of the more expensive brands, but I would say if you're a virgin/haven't given birth, AND you've never used a menstrual cup before, the lunette is probably for you. I haven't used size 2 so I can't really comment on that unfortunately as apparently the size 1 is more flexible and 'soft.' Just a tip if you're getting one, remember to BREAK THE SEAL before attempting to take it out (oh boy, I forgot about that), you'll save yourself some pain. There are some fabulous guides easily accessible by google, so you'll have a load of advice to draw from. Ultimately, the real test will be during my period, so I'll attempt to update this review then. However just two bits of further advice is to make sure you're getting the right size by visiting lunettes website and checking out their table. Also, please don't get a menstrual cup if you're grossed out by collected blood or exploring your anatomy, you'll be doing it. For now, ciao! UPDATE - After using the cup for one cycle, I can now assuredly say this thing is quite amazing. I was right in tackling the learning curve early, as I didn't really encounter any problems. (At one point it managed to get inverted, which was both quite amusing and heavily uncomfortable, but that was due to my trying to hasten the insertion process) On my heavier days, I had to double up using the cup and a pad because of overflowing, but that was because I wasn't comfortable with taking it out in a public bathroom, so I just left it in for about 6 hours at a time. The reason why I wasn't comfortable was because at one point I accidentally dropped the cup on my bathroom floor, and it genuinely looked like I had murdered someone. I wouldn't want to risk that in public. So until I'm more experienced in taking it out, I'm playing safe. On my lighter days, there was no leaking and I felt fresh! I even wore this on a 12 hour flight and it was brilliant, way more comfortable than wearing a pad. Cleaning it is easy, I just sterilised it as recommended by the guide which came with it, and then before I used it I rinsed it in boiling water. After that just quick rinses with water before each insertion will do I think, as I don't have any non-irritating soaps. I will put it in boiling water before each cycle though. No icky stuff gets caught on anything, so you don't really have to get down and dirty. The suction holes are big enough and can be cleaned with not much effort. My one is purple, so it won't be as easily discoloured as the clear one - although I did order the clear one and a purple one came in the post instead! I was going abroad the next day, so I just used it anyway but it was a bit of a 'meh' moment. And now for what I have noticed: Using this cup has completely eliminated stains. Many a time in the past, and I know this is a problem for many women, I woke up and stared downcast at a bloodied sheet in the morning. Well not with this! (if you double up with a pad on your heavier days). I've said goodbye to stains and feeling uncomfortable throughout the night. In the mornings I feel fresh and we'll rested, something you really need when you're on your period. I've also noticed a lack of odour. I have a bit of a sensitive nose so the smell of oxidised blood was never pleasant to me. Now however, I cannot smell anything! This is fantastic for anyone with a keen sense of smell. To sum up, this is an amazing product and I cannot sing it's praises enough. But please be aware, we all have different body structures so thoroughly research your model before buying a cup. What works for me may not work for you, but due to the lunettes size and softness, perhaps it is the closest thing to a universal cup? Size 1 at least. To conclude, having my period was always an inconvenience. But now, I can soldier through it feeling fresh! You can't really put a price on that. And it will only get better as I get more adept at using it, and I become aware of my own cycle and it's properties. I know I mentioned using pads in this review, which may be a bit counterproductive for those of you concerned with the environment. But that was just because of my inexperience in using the cup, and I'm sure in the future I won't have too. I hope this has been a useful review for you! Lunette - 1 year on. I have some additional information that might prove useful, so I thought I would update this review. I would like to focus on the importance of body type. I have noticed that some women are having problems inserting the size 1, with it being too big and therefore painful - this is the case for some women even if they have given birth! This is why I think it is very important to look at your bone structure/body type before getting a product like this. If, like me, you have a heavy blood flow and broad shoulders, hips and everything in between - despite being a virgin - I would say get a size 2. Retrospectively, that is what I think I should have done; I should have gone against advice and gotten the size 2, despite me not filling some of the criteria. Conversely, if you are petite, small boned and slender, you should probably lean more towards the size 1. I must admit however, I may just be an odd ball, body wise - I've always had very broad shoulders, thick feet and huge thighs even as a child, so I cannot claim that my advise is infallible! But I still think, for all you slender and thick women out there, this is something to keep in mind for sure - don't just go by the criteria, look at your body. Hopefully, this makes sense. Secondly, I would like to talk about smell. I have noticed a smell recently, and while it is not very pleasant it is also not very strong. It smells a bit like cauliflower… It is at its strongest right after I take it out, and the least noticeable after I wash it. I don't worry about it at all, because you can't smell it otherwise. Just something to note. The colour is also starting to fade a bit, but I never really cared about the colour to begin with. If by any chance you have a heavy flow and your cup is full, be warned! If you remove the seal you may get blood pouring down your hand and onto the floor, or on your trousers - both of which I have experienced. This has only happened on my heaviest days, and thankfully when I was at home, but I think if you are in public and your cup seems to be full, remove it with small movements and with caution or try taking it out before it gets full if possible. Now, for cramps, the thing I am most pleased about. My cramps are almost non-existent now! I cannot pin this exactly on the lunette, but it does seem to have helped with it at least a bit. My cramps used to be terrible and debilitating, but now I can carry on as usual. So does my 5 star rating persist after 1 year? You bet it does. I still think this is a life changing product, and I would recommend it to any woman.
