Follow my problems with the leaky seal and bad wheel bearing

If you want to save time and money, this is an excellent option! I changed the part in 1 hour on my 2007 Toyoya 4 Runner 4WD, next month I will buy the other side so I have everything new.

I had high hopes for this product. It’s the only company that offers the axel shaft and bearing installed. My mechanic noticed the residue on the bearing and tried using engine degreaser, brake fluid to remove it, but nothing worked. Using fine grit sandpaper was the only thing that was able to scrap some of it off. Amazon customer service was awesome. They gave me a discount on the part, which I was satisfied with because I paid for a new part but received a defective poor quality part. Mechanic warned it will have premature failure/leaking because the bearing should be smooth.

The aftermarket axle assembly seems to be a quality product, there are two questionable things that make installation a bit difficult. First, the provided seal is of poor quality and is impossible to install without damaging it. There is no bevel to help guide the seal into its seat. I went to my local auto parts store to buy 2 quality seals at a cost of $30. Secondly the brake caliper bracket mounts are manufactured approximately 3/16” off so the mounts contact the rotors. At first I thought that maybe the aftermarket rotors were wrong, but even the OEM Toyota rotors rubbed too. I corrected this by installing shims between the axle mount and caliper bracket. You may think oh this guy doesn’t know what he’s doing, but I assure you as a retired mechanic and fleet manager I know what I’m talking about. All in all even with these two minor issues it’s still worth it.

This part was ordered to go on my wife's '09 Lexus GX470. The part was well protected by the packaging. The only modification I had to do to the part was where the brake line attaches to the top side of the back of the assembly. It was slightly different than the factory one, but did not pose a problem at all. The fact that it came with the bearing pre-pressed onto the axle made the process much easier. It comes with a new axle seal if needed. Be careful not to nick the seal as you place the axle into the axle housing.

I give this dealer a 4 star rating because the axle seal was Missing! Otherwise, the part was the correct part, in great condition, and delivery was very fast! I think I ordered on Friday afternoon, and it was delivered that Sunday! For the missing axle seal, I just went to dealer and purchased one because I didn't have time to wait--also, this is the first time the dealer is hearing that I did not have an axle seal. If they would like to rectify the missing part and pay me back for the seal I purchased, that would be awesome. Fortunately, the seal wasn't one of the more expensive seals I've come across!

This made for a easy wheel bearing replacement at home.
