Melissa & Doug USA Map Wooden Puzzle (45 pcs)

This is a great puzzle. Over the years I've purchased a few of them as birthday gifts for various children. As it typical of most Melissa & Doug products that I've encountered, the puzzle is of superior quality...I love the fact that it's constructed of wood. The puzzle pieces and board are extremely well made and are very durable. We've owned ours for over four years now and it is still in excellent condition! Each puzzle piece is about 3/16 of an inch thick. The names of the States are printed on the puzzle pieces, while the names of the capitals of each State is printed on the puzzle board. That way children not only learn the names of the states, and their location within the US, but also the capital of each State. The puzzle consists of 45 pieces--the smaller New England states, share a puzzle piece. For example, MA, RI, and CT all share one puzzle piece. The same is true of a few other north eastern states that are not within NE region. In any event, this is a wonderful puzzle. It's educational and fun, providing children with endless hours of entertainment, while increasing their knowledge about their country. My daughter, who is eight, has one of these puzzles and she loves it. I bought it back in 2011 when she was only 4. My husband and I have completed the puzzle with her many times over the years, and now that she's older she's taken it upon herself to do it with her five year old brother. It's really cute to watch them seriously concentrating while completing the puzzle. :-)

Wonderful. I have one similar from the mid-1970's I bought my children. A couple of pieces are missing and it is well worn... So, a new one for my great-grandchildren is in order. The most important and appreciated features of your puzzle are making pieces match size and shape of states where practicable, naming the states, showing a view what the state is famous for and having the capitals hidden under the puzzle piece for each. Then, for it to be 3/8" thick laminate and to have a summary of facts for each of the 50 states on the back of the board... this is VERY attractive and functional for our bright young active children! Thank you. Also, a 12"x 16" is so functional to use and to store, ready to see, think and do! I changed to Gulf of America...

My dtr is five and she is already making the geographical connections in this. It’s an amazing learning tool and just really fun. I even got a lesson on some of the capital cities as an adult. Your kids are going to have to learn this in elementary school so you may as well make it fun and memorable for them.

Very nice-looking puzzle. Very sturdy construction, but does have a number of small pieces. Good item for learning national geography, but don't loose any pieces.

The quality of this is nice. It's a wooden puzzle and looks as pictured. I love that my kids are learning what the states look like and where they go and don't even realize it. They're toddlers right now, but they're learning all the time. I like that it's also a refresher for me of the states and capitols. It's a pretty good sized puzzle. It came with all the parts, it shows what the states are known for as well. In the picture it's missing Florida, that's due to us losing it. Georgia has also seen better days. Our puppy got a hold of that one.

I bought this for my young grandson as he loves puzzles and has lots of questions about the places I travel, so I thought this would be fun. Turns out he is not quite old enough to put the puzzle together, but he still loves to look at it and will take one piece off, ask what it is, and then puts it back.

This is such a great toy for helping my kids learn geography. They refer to this map frequently to understand where states are at- it's so cool to see how interested they are in it and how it helps them understand the the states, cities, and us layout.

I absolutely love this Melissa & Doug USA Map Wooden Puzzle! The quality of the pieces is outstanding and the design is so engaging for my child. The bright colors and fun illustrations really capture their attention. The 45 pieces make it challenging enough to keep them entertained, but not too difficult that they get frustrated. It's a great educational tool for learning about the US states and geography. Overall, I highly recommend this puzzle for any child interested in learning about the United States!

Love it and easy to learn map with completing a few times

Easy & entertaining. Just what we wanted, to teach the grandchildren (and us) where all the parts of the USA fit together.

My 4 year old and I find this puzzle fun every time we do it. He's learning a lot about the United States, not only where the States are but also on the back their State bird and State flower. Now that it's easy for us to do it we have mini competitions on how quickly we can do it. It's too bad Melissa and Doug hasn't come up with a Europe map - I think that would be a great puzzle to do and learn. I recommend this for 4 and up to adults!
