SPEED-O-GUIDE Universal Clipper Comb Attachments 3 Pack (Model: 3000)

Owning 4 dogs (all rescues) and feeling the economic pinch, spending $200.00 every other month at the groomer was an obvious belt-tightening opportunity for us. After about an hour of research, I bought a used Pro-grade Oster pet clipper on eBay for $12.00 and found a brand new blade set for $8.00 as well. Because the blades are the only part of the clipper that wears out, I wound up with the functional equivalent of a brand new clipper for $20.00 delivered. So far, so good. I tackled our Shih-Tzu/Poodle mix 1st, giving "Princess" a classic Poodle cut. It went pretty well overall but using the clippers without the comb attachment results in almost a "surgical" haircut- the kind they do when the're going to operate on the animal. I didn't knick her skin at all but I would have preferred leaving a very short layer of hair for 2 reasons: it looks better, but more importantly the shaved skin left the animal with a razor burn that kept her annoyed for about 3 days. Then I ordered this Speed-O comb set. It has the perfect selection of cutting lengths for my purpose, allowing me to give close-cropped haircuts without post-grooming irritation. Plus the chances of accidentally knicking the skin is all but eliminated. The set allows for leaving about 1/16", 1/8" or about 1/4" of hair, again perfect for dog grooming. My next victim was my 16 pound Pomeranian. "Stormy" had some badly matted areas that required the bare blade to get under it- the comb's teeth are too heavy to sneak beneath the matting. So those areas look a little butch, but the rest of the haircut went really well and my wife was totally impressed that I can groom our dogs! Technical note- if you're thinking about grooming your pets too, keep in mind that after a few minutes of hair cutting the blades clog up with hair and they can get warm as well. There's a blade cooler/lubricating spray that is made by Oster, but I used my trusty can of WD-40: Turn the clipper off & remove the comb 1st; cradle the blade in a paper towel to catch the run off and spray liberally; then wipe it off with a clean paper towel before putting the comb back on. Bottom line: The Speed-O-Guide 3000 is a well made set of close cropping clipper combs that attach securely to the clipper, enabling the user to produce a uniform haircut with a professional appearance. Highly recommended. Save yourself a few minutes of searching- Buy it here on Amazon for the lowest price. I got mine for just under $7.00 delivered. For me, it paid for itself within 20 minutes of using it!

Not very durable one is already bent

Great for kids that move around when getting their hair cut vs using the magnets

Did not have to worry about a bald spot because the guides fell off.

Made cheaply

Replaced a couple of guards that I've had for years where a few guide teeth broke off. Only gripe, is that I wish they were sold individually versus in 3 packs.

love that they make the smaller in between clips like their 000 but the quality is poor and the way they are designed dont fit right on all clippers or any that I've owned so the teeth of the guide comb 000 end up breaking immediately and render themselves useless. Its unfortunate because I have not found another company that makes the zero clips in the same sizes as these.
