Great Replacement at a Great Value I typically prefer OEM parts, but I’ve found that for certain components, aftermarket options like these Boxi struts work just as well—if not better. Installation was quick and easy, and the fitment was spot on—same extended length (16.92”) and measurements as the OEM struts. These even came with new hardware, which was a nice bonus. One noticeable difference is the head design, which actually makes installation easier since it allows you to twist the head into place. Performance-wise, they work great and feel durable. At around a fraction of the $150 price tag for factory struts, they’re a great value—especially when replacing 23-year-old originals. I have a lot of experience reviewing Toyota and Lexus parts, and I’d definitely recommend these as a solid aftermarket option.

Piece of cake. Installed on a 2001 Lexus GS300. About 20 minutes. Takes longer to unscrew the OEM bolts than to instal the struts. 12mm OE wrench is all you need. Just unscrew the original bolts from the hood and engine bay and pitch that set up. The OEM struts have the same ball attachment but it is not meant to be removed and would be a real bitch to mess with. The hardware included in the kit just screws back into the original holes as the OEM. The struts attach the same as the originals and are adjustable. The nice part is if you ever have to replace them again, the BOXI setup has clips on both ends of the receptacles on the strut and with minimal effort and a small screwdriver just lift the clip enough to pop the strut out and replace it without having to unscrew the bolts from the body.

I have a 1999 Lexus GS300, and these were a perfect fit. Changing them was as easy as unscrewing the old ones, screwing the new knobs in, and snapping them in. Took about 30 minutes, with 15 minutes of it trying to get the 19 year old ones off, those suckers were ON THERE. Super impressed with the packing, individually enclosed in a package that is fully sealed to keep dirt and debris out. Now that I bought these one, changing them ever again in the future is easy as snapping off and on, no more screwing. 100% recommend these to anyone, heavy great quality. Just remember to do it with a friend or have the hood strongly supported.

I typically prefer OEM parts. However I've found certain parts it's OK to substitute aftermarket. Not only that, the factory struts are around $150.00. Either way, it's beats the heck out 23 year old struts. These Boxi struts look different because of the head design. It allows you to twist the head in place. They also come with new hardware.
