How do you dim the light?

Here are the directions on how to use this touch light, also you could find it on the back of the packing box if you bought this item,

- Before using, slide button from "OFF" to "TOUCH" or "10 MIN".

- "TOUCH" Mode: one touch for ON / OFF, hold down for brightness settings.

- "OFF" Mode: Power Off.

- "10 MIN" Mode: 10 minutes timer to turn off the light automatically. That is, when you set "10 MIN" mode, when you turn on the light, and after 10 minutes, then light will turn off by itself. Only difference from "TOUCH" mode is it has 10 minutes timer, all the same as the "TOUCH" mode.

- Brightness Setting (either "TOUCH" mode or "10 MIN" mode): 
Step 1, One slight Touch with your finger belly to turn on the light FIRST, and immediately loose your finger from the light, 
Step 2, when the light is turn on, touch again on the light and hold down for seconds, then the light would adjust the brightness gradually from dim to bright, loose your finger when you find the brightness is ok for you. And if you want to change from bright to dim, all the same, touch again on the light and hold down for seconds.

ALL IN ALL, YOU NEED TO TURN ON THE LIGHT FIRST, THEN TOUCH AGAIN AND HOLD DOWN FOR DIMMER.

- Brightness Memory: When brightness is set, the light will memorize the settings. The next time when you turn on the light, brightness is the same as the last-used.

- Charging: Red light indicating while charging, red light off after fully charged.

- Wireless use only, this light is not designed to use by leaving it plugged in.

When set to 10 Min will a tap extend ten more minutes or must it be switched off and then back to 10 Min?

Is this bright enough to be used as a normal lamp? We’re looking for something without cords for my sons room.

This is a very nice night lite ,I use mine when I have to get up at night enough for me but might not be enough for lamp replacement . Go into rechargeable home lamps might get something more suitable worth the check  good luck

Yes, the rechargeable battery of this touch night light is built-in, and the back casing of the touch light is a whole one. If you need to open the light to get the battery, you need to open the front golden ring first which is difficult, and then un-screw the screws, and then open it, many steps, in normal situations, kids may be very difficult to apply. ( Users themselves to open this timer night light is not recommended, only the manufacturers do.)
