Will this wheel fit on the older style drill doctor?

Accepted Answer

This diamond grinding wheel (DA31320GF) is a smaller diameter grinding wheel designed for the new generation Drill Doctor models and will not fit the older Classic Drill Doctor models. The correct grinding wheel to fit the older models (DD300, DD500 and DD750) is available here at Amazon.com. Search for part number is SA01326GA,  standard 180 Grit Wheel. IS THIS MADE  IN U.S?

The 'card' in the Drill Doctor Coarse (100 grit) Diamond Sharpening Wheel package I bought from Amazon in Oct 2013 says "Assembled in U.S.A. using foreign parts."  The 'card' in the Drill Doctor Standard (180 grit) Diamond Sharpening Wheel package I bought from Amazon in Oct 2013 on the same order says "This kit includes foreign made parts."  I know the Drill Doctor website says they make the Drill Doctor in their U.S.A. factory so I assume the sharpening wheels are "made" in their U.S.A. factory as well. BUT, the making may be nothing more than the assembly of the package with the wheel being the 'foreign part' with the 'card' and the formed plastic case holding the wheel being printed and made respectively in the U.S.A. and the three parts assembled in the U.S.A. into a complete package. The chances of the cards being printed in the U.S.A. are very good because as far as I can tell, there are no spelling or grammar errors which are typical in printed materials printed outside of the U.S.A.

Does the unit come with a 180 grit wheel or a 100 grit wheel?

It comes with the 180 grit wheel installed from the factory. Both the 100 and 180 grit wheels are the same color. The way to tell the difference is the 100 grit wheel has a "100" stamped on the edge. The 180 grit wheel has no markings.

Does this wheel work on solid carbide bits?

Accepted Answer
