Looking for an alternative to my chop saw for baseboards. Would this work easily?

get a simple miter box and a Japanese pull saw without a back.... works great.... ive done it for years... its so much more convenient than going to the miter saw for every cut.... just stay put

Can I use this saw to cut down the legs on my bar stools?

notice that this saw have a restricted cutting depth. the intended use is for cutting fine joinery and not to cut off stool legs. for your propose, the RYOBA double edge saw will be much better and still give a clean cut.

what is the thickness of the blade?

When measured with a digital caliper, the result was 0.02 inches or 0.5 mm if measuring the width of the blade at the saw teeth, however, the steel sheet itself is thinner, measuring around 0.01 inches or 0.25 mm. It's difficult to tell exactly as the blade is flexible, but I would expect your cut would be the same as the width at the saw teeth.
