I use it to store books and small LEGO models. It works great.

I like these cabinets; they assembled pretty easily (you do have to pound nails; well, little pin brads). The seem stable enough (I do plan to use the supplied hardware to fasten them to the wall soon, just because). They're flat-pack furniture, particle board with black laminate over it, I don't think any modern consumer could miss that reading the catalog description. At the price I paid, they're a good deal. If you want something solidly above flat-pack furniture, you're going to pay a price really solidly above this. I'm aware that this review is mostly groused. I'm like that; most aspects of this product are just what they should be, what I think I can illuminate in this review is the relatively few areas that aren't excellent. Each cabinet has a bottom section and a top section; the bottom is 4 inches taller. The bottom can be divided into 4 CD sections, or 1 CD section and 2 video (including VHS, DVD) sections. The top can be divided into 3 video sections. If you don't have DVDs or VHS tapes, or if you have a lot of Blu-Ray disks or BETA tapes, you might get more, but for us DVDs aren't dead and we want to shelve all the video together, so we did all the video shelving DVD height. I kept hoping for clever arrangements to get me an extra shelf somewhere, but nothing worked, if I save space it ended up not being enough for another full shelf, so it just made one shelf taller. Nice, big, cabinets, decently oversized bottom board to help with stability. Should have been some sort of 'feet' on the bottom to protect the floor, I think. Each of the big wood pieces is labeled with a sticker, giving the letter that piece is identified with. This is not mentioned anywhere in the instructions, and not shown in the diagrams; I spent quite a while trying to make sure I had properly identified the pieces before I happened to turn one over and spot the label! Step 2 of the instructions is just WRONG; you install 12 of part 'N' (cam bolts), not 8. One can deduce this from the diagram, or from examining the actual pieces. Other than those 2, the instructions are quite good. Oh, and the pre-drilled holes for attaching to the wall are 24" apart, and the instructions pretend you can attack them both to a stud. Yeah, right; maybe in some non-attached garages. Drilling a new hole to attach to a stud in the exact location you want the unit along the wall is very easy, though, so no big deal.

I had almost finished put together, when the top part started to let go. Caught it before it tore out of the bottom part. Found that one of the cam locks had snapped and was supporting. No spares were supplied, but had some from previous assembly of a product. It is now sturdy and working. Tried to see if Amazon.ca, would compensate for the turmoil, but only option is to send back, which I don't have the original packaging and the unit is fully assembled. I would like to keep, and not have to send back, and the biggest problem would be getting it back to Amazon. As, the only return is through Canada Post. I can see why a small refund is not possible, as other times, I have received it for a broken cd case or such. So, it isn't bad unit but be careful. Also, just written to the Manufacturer, to see if there is any recourse.

Firstly, I own this product and find it wonderful. It is one of the only storage solutions I've found that can hold the kinds of games that I own, and have such a large capacity/ability to change what kind of games and sizes it can hold. That being said, the construction of these is somewhat problematic... At one point they want you install the backing board (which is vital for the stability and straightness/square-build) of the product, with the lower lip jutting out, which places a lot of stress of the joints in the middle that join the bottom and top halves. What I've found that works is to install the bottom plate, and stand the unit upright. Have someone hold the unit in place while you nail/hammer in the little nails into the backing board into the back of the shelving unit. It has worked great for me. Secondly, absolutely mount these into the wall, into a stud, into anything. Freestanding they aren't bad... but I can't imagine installing these on any kind of carpet without having them anchored to something. If you apply the back correctly and if you stabilize the unit to the wall (and maybe even reinforce it in a few places?), these are fantastic for the price. Oh, also... there is a lot of Styrofoam in the box, some of which is very thin and breaks apart into an infinite supply of little styrofoam boogers that I continue to find a year after I built these lol

As everyone else says, go slow, take your time, be certain that you have all of the pieces oriented correctly, and for the love of God don't use a drill or over tighten the cams, or any of the parts that go into the wood. I was impressed with how much media could actually fit on one of these.
