linseed oil with Gamblin thinners are excellent.

Can this be used with water based oil paint like Alkyds?

Would I use Galkyd for water-based oil paints?

Water mixable oil paint is not "water based". These are oil paints, ie, oil based paint that are formulated to be mixable with water but they are not water based. In my experience water mixable oil based paints can used with any type of oil medium.
