I have some cartridges for Professional Gear fountain pen.  Would they fit on this pen?

Yes. Sailor uses proprietary ink cartridges and converters, and they work on any of their pens that accepts ink cartridges.

what is converter for?

A converter is used for bottled ink. With this Sailor pen you have the option of using Sailor ink cartridges or using a "cartridge converter". The converter fits in the pen where a ink cartridge would otherwise fit and can be filled with bottled fountain pen ink.

Is the Sailor 1911 Fountain pen available with fine  Nib ?

Yes it is. In fact Sailor offers 7 different nib grinds for this pen. I don’t know if you can find them on Amazon all the time though or if ever.   That will depend on the sellers and what they offer. I was only able to find it recently as of Dec. of 2022, in medium grind. But I really liked the price and figured if I want to, in future, I can send it in to what is called a nib meister and have the nib ground to a different size and/or style. So I could, for instance, get a cursive italic grind, or thinned down to a fine. Extra money spent, yes. But still cheaper on a whole, with the price of the pen here and the nib meister’s new grind, than it is to purchase elsewhere.
