Philips H7 X-tremeVision Upgrade Headlight Bulb (Pack of 2)

These lights are tremendous. I wanted to get better headlights for my new car, the ones that come standard on the Passat are a little weak (actually really dull). At first I couldn't find these in stock anywhere onlne. So I settled for 'Philips H7 CrystalVision Ultra Headlight Bulb'. Which are excellent, much brighter bulb, and I was not disappointed with those. But after reading more reviews on X-Treme Vision H7 and how much this improved night vision, I really wanted these. Soon as they came in stock (month later) I bought these. I am not disappointed, these are really really good at giving better vision at night + they look good. I have never changed bulbs before, so I did a little research, and anyone in my shoes might want to read up on this first. You want to make sure you DO NOT touch the bulb. Cant not have any of the oil transfer from your fingers to the bulb. This will cause the bulb to burn out eventually. I used 'Microflex Safegrip PF Latex Gloves', worked great no spots as I worked on them. You can also use those gloves for other car stuff whatever you are doing. Very hard to tear, unless you snag on something very sharp. Which any glove will tear. For other Passat TDi owners, The Bulb for the headlight H7, matches the Hi-Beam (Brights). So if you want to change both, just order two of these. I only ordered one. I move the Crystal Vision I bought originally to the hi-beams. They look great, not that I will really use them, but in the case I do I know it will do the job. For any other concerns that I had, was blinding other drivers. I know everyone has seen it where some dude is coming up and his lights are EXTREMLEY bright. This will not blind other drives, if anyone is worried about it. I actually had my wife drive my car down the street while I was driving hers to see how they looked. They look like a bright white, but not blinding. So if you are not planning on using HIDs, you might want to invest in these. Also one last side note, these are the newer version of Philips H7 X-treme Power Headlight Bulb. Edit 5/12/2014 Just an update, I been using these for a little over a year, and lights still look great. I have put about 14k in miles since I bought these. With roughly a 1/3 of it at night, and I am still happy with my purchase. I would still recommend these if you are looking for something that will give better vision and have nice elegant look.

Not as bright as an HID, but way brighter than the old oem's it replaced. Also it was easy enough to install in my celica such that my gf and I made a date out of installing them in my car. She did one side and I did the other. Remember not to touch the bulb glass and wear gloves. You already read that a million times. At first I wasn't sure there was much of a driving difference, but I did notice after a while that my eyes felt less fatigued at night. Like I wasn't straining to see as much or further. I'm not sure how long they'll last since they activate with the daytime running lamp control. I'll post back if they burn out early.

Totally Disappointed...The specs and reviews of this lights made them seem like the best lights ever. It's crazy the difference between this and the SilverStars bulbs i usually buy. H7 bulbs suck big time...Silver Stars are rated at 88 hrs...Philips H7 12972XVS2 X-Treme Vision were rated at 200 hrs. I Normally have to replace my headlights every 3 to 4 months with silverstars so i was thinking that this shoud last me at least a year. I can't say anything about durability because these are going to the garbage (what a waste of money). The difference in luminosity are miles apart. I will stick with silverstars for the time being and just replace them as often as i'm accustomed to. I own a Kia Sedona and being able to see down the road for my safety and my family safety i will have to go back to silverstars. Update : On December 25th my one of my silverstars burnt out, since every autoparts store were closed i remembered that i had those philips on my trunk...having no choice i install them. So far it has been 2 months with them even if they don't have the same brightness i'm curious to see how long they last. Light is yellowish compared with silverstars which are whiter. So far so good kind of got use to them. Update : May 12,2016 Finally this set burned. It took 4 1/2 months even thou i didn't like the color this set lasted 1 1/2 months more than the silver stars...They gave me less than the 200 hrs, more like 150 hrs of use. Which basically double the life of Silverstars. Am I going to use a light that i don't like much but gave double the life of my silverstars....i guess i will reorder and keep a pair in my trunk. Bumping my review to 4 stars since Philips X-tremeVision gave me the most life time of any bulbs i bought for my van so far.

It rocks!!

Noticeably brighter than OEM bulbs but not anywhere close to the light output from HID bulbs. The light bulbs were installed with gloves to ensure no oil residue from hand gets on the bulbs, which can dramatically shorten its life. Despite this, the bulb burned out in about 9 months despite minimal night driving, about 25 mins a day. Great while it work. The short life span makes this item not worth it for me.

As usual, the "XV" (XVS2 in this case) product line from Philips is "no nonsense" and high performance. If you're looking for "that coool HID look" - go elsewhere (and please don't drive near me). If you're looking for a significant boost in light output with no gimics, you've found your product. I've also had excellent luck with the XV in the 9007 in another vehicle. Note that this product does *NOT* cause problems for other drivers, as it functions correctly with your headlight system, unlike "hid kit" silly (and dangerous) items.

I installed a set of those Philips Upgrade Headlight bulbs in my 2006 MB in December 2014 and one of the light is out today. My car doesn't have low beam light on at daylight (turned off manually) and I seldom drive it at night. I guess totally maybe only less than 50 hours of running time on this set of bulbs. This is a horrible product!
