does it include the 4 router bits usually included with in this set

Yes, but the router bits included are for making the various dovetail and mini dovetail joints. They do not include the 1/2" and 1/4" straight bits for making the box joints, but you should have those in your shop already anyway. One other important note on case you didn't read the manual, your router needs to be able to accept both 1/2" collet and 1/4" collet bits. The bits included for the normal dovetails are 1/2" shank. If your router is a fixed 1/4 collet you might be able to buy 1/4" shank bits and use them, but cutting 1/2" joints with a 1/4" shank might make sloppy joints due to bit wobble.

Can you use it with the Bosch router or do you need special accessories

The hole in theBottom of router called the plate (where the bit goes thru ) needs to be a specific size to accept the bushings that come with the PC jig. Remember your router must be able to accept 1/2 inch shank router bits, first of all, or you will only be able to make mini dovetails. Not sure on the base plate hole for the bushings size I think it is 1 3/8 inch? You can go to a big box store HD.... And measure there PC router on display and compare it to yours. Or you can get a adapter plate that is the right size for your hole pattern. Or get a small sheet of 1/4 inch plexiglass securely mount it to your router, then place a 1/8 or 1/4 inch drill bit into router and drill down into the plixaglass to locate center, then get a hole drill the correct size to accept the PC bushing.

Does it contain the essential guide rings

Yes, it has the guide bushings for both the 1/4 in and 1/2 in. router bits which come with the jig. Make sure you have a router that has the same size hole in the base plate as the Porter-cable routers.

What width of boards will fit in this jig, and what is the max thickness of boards that can fit in it? Will it handle 4/4 stock?

Maximum width is 12 inches. Maximum thickness is 1 1/8 inches. Yes, it will handle 4/4 stock!

I researched a lot of dovetail jigs and settled on this one. Very glad I did. If you follow the instruction booklet it is very simple to cut perfect dovetails, looks daunting to start with but just makes sense eventually. I purchased the 4216 kit because it came with all the templates I could ever need and included the router bits. Look on you tube there are some great videos on how to set it up and make fine adjustments. Well worth the money for accuracy and quality. Be careful, there are some copies on line made in China, avoid them and buy the original, you won't regret it.

I bought this jig after pouring over You Tube vids and other web comparisons/reviews for dovetail jigs or a few hours. It took a while to set up but within a couple of hours of fooling with scrap materials I was able to produce good quality joinery. Like anything else, with a bit more practice, I am sure I can do top notch work with this jig. It functions exactly as described. The manual that comes with it is not perfect, but certainly covers the basic functions of the jig; other user videos found online were very helpful and actual hands on use was not at all intimidating. I am very pleased with the work I can turn out and would recommend getting the other templates at the time of purchase as they are a bit more affordable that way than purchasing them separately later on.
