Nordzucker Sugar Cones, Zucker Hut (2-Pack)

Ein Zuckerhut! This item is mainly known by hardcore German Christmas fans and a must if you want to have a nice dinner with Feuerzangen Bowle and watch the movie with the same name and actor Heinz Ruehmann. Thanks to Amazon's shipping method, this item came "unbroken" and I was able show my Californians how it melted in my Feuerzangen Bowl set while adding rum and firing it up! Again, a must-have item for this recipe. Thank you, Amazon, for allowing me to show some old German Tradition in sunny California

These sugar cones were packaged in a brown, unpadded Amazon shipping envelope. Needless to write, they arrived cracked. These are used for making burnt punch, or gluewein, and they sit on a little tray over the punch bowl. You pour rum on them and then light them on fire so that sugar drips into the punch. Having cracked sugar cones defeats the purpose of making this recipe. Come on Amazon, you can do better than that.

This is what I do with the Sugar cone..... heat with chafing burner: redwine, star anise, oranges 🍊 with cloves (lemon if you like), cinnamon sticks and light up sugar cone with rum so it drips caramelized into warm/hot red spiced wine. It's German and called Feuerzangenbowle. Will try to add picture later when alight. Photo is from prep work.

I really had hoped for the best and not having to write a negative review so I can honestly say I’m very pleased they arrived unbroken. Although I don’t know how that happened because the packaging wasn’t great in protecting them. Needless to say I feel very lucky. I haven’t used any yet since I’m still waiting for the tongs to arrive any day now. My German husband will be so surprised and very happy when he sees the whole set up with the bowl, sugar cone and tongs. We’ve watched many times of the preparing and drinking this wonderful punch in person at German Christmas markets over the years Lots of YouTube vids to make sure we do it right. Even have the Stroh 160 rum on hand. You need a high alcohol liquor to keep it lit. Can’t wait! Buying the bowl and tongs separately saved $45.

I’m biased because I’m German and the last cones I brought from Germany for a fraction of the cost (2 USD a piece). The product is good but make sure it doesn’t brake during shipping. Amazon has to do this better!! One of two were broken. Still possible to work with but the appearance is not the same. Feuerzangenbowle with the cone is worth the headache.

I'm just happy I can get these. The cone we've used so far was broken at the end, but it came a long way. If you've never had burnt punch, I can recommend it enough. It is such a fun part of the holidays. We will be melting the second cone this week for Christmas. We used the first at Thanksgiving.

Extremely overpriced, it’s sugar! But what can we do? Sugar cubes just don’t give the same effect for Feuerzangenbowle and the brown sugar cones available in the US don’t work for that purpose. I only do it once a year, so I’m willing to pay for the authentic experience.

it was received broken and since we needed it for our wedding ceremony there was no time to get another one, so we put up with it. their delivery and packaging were really poor, I don't recommend them
