How does this lens compare to the Canon version?  Mainly want for indoor sports?  Would you spend the extra money for the Canon version?

I don't have any idea on how it compares to Cannon. I shoot with Pentax equipment. I know that it is an exceptional lens that provides high quality images at a reasonable price. I use it for indoor sports and it performs well. If you are shooting for personal use I would say buy the Tamron. If you shoot professionally then go for the Canon EF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS II USM Telephoto Zoom Lens for Canon SLR Cameras by Canon. This lens is about $2,000.00. You can pass the cost to the clients.

Question 3

Is the f2.8 constant for all the zoom range...? I mean the f value will change if one zoom out/in.

The SETTING should stay the same.  I'm checking...In the Aperture mode, setting to f/2.8 and rotating the zoom full out and back, the F/2.8 stays the same on the screen.  On my Nikon D7000 the only way to control the ap...unless I've missed something, is in the A mode.  Changing the mode dial displays a different ap biased on other factors.  Even then, rotating the zoom does not change the displayed ap setting. Ie if rotating the mode from A mode where you have set the ap to say f3, to M or S, the ap may stay or move to another value if needed.  At this point, whatever the value is displayed, rotating the zoom out or in does not change the f value.

Question 4

Have anyone tried this lens(Pentax mount) on Pentax K-30. In the dropdown if I select K30 it is sowing not compatible

Lots of stupid answers here since this is a hub for 4 different mounts. You can use this with any Pentax DSLR to my knowledge. I use it with the K-50 no issues. It's tack sharp too!
